Founded in 1974, the Božidar Jakac Art Museum is located in the building of the former Kostanjevica Monastery, one of Slovenia's finest medieval monuments, which is situated in the picturesque landscape of south-eastern Slovenia. The building is surrounded by Forma Viva Sculpture Park.

Kostanjevica prepared new international exhibition of Forma viva with sculptures of Chinese artist Meng Gao, sculptor from Poland Ryszard Litwiniuk and Slovene artist Primož Pugelj. The also prepared huge retrospective of Dušan Tršar. Visit is recommended. I enjoyed.

Great collection of slovenian and european artists works, in a beautiful building. If you want to learn a little more about Kostanjevica and Slovenia(events, people, history, war...)you should visit The Bozidar Jakac Gallery.

I recommend it to all travelers of all ages. Great pictures, statues,..for a very low price of tickets. You can be there for more than two hours to look all arts.

In a renovated building that was once a monastery, and worth the viisit just because of that, there is a permanent exhibit of leading Slovenian artists. We enjoyed the art very much, and also the quiet and contemplative atmosphere.
