A great museum filled with interesting exhibits from this time period. The weekend museum worker was very helpful in answering questions and offering suggestions on things to do in St. Joseph. We enjoyed our visit.

I have been there 8-10 times in my life, since I've grown up here. Seems like I notice, or see something that I've not notice before. There's a fun prairie house area for kids to play and pretend. Favorite spot of my children when they were little. Ive heard older folks comment, that they remember a lot of the memorabilia... More

Interesting to think about an 1860s mail route from St Joseph to California. Such a change from our cell phones, text messages, and emails of today. It's a venue every youngster should see...in hopes they appreciate what communication is today.

Housed in a former stable, the museum presents the birth of the Pony Express by full -sized mannequins and exhibits. There are multiple documents on exhibit, along with artifacts of the period. Children learn of the true story of the birth of the Pony Express by exhibits designed for their age. The curaters are constantly trying to improve their exhibit.... More

This is where the horses were sheltered and riders would bunk. Definitely a lot of photos. There is a lot more on the Pony Express up at the Patee House which is where the P.E. offices were and where the run began. Still an interesting venue.
