As we walked into the cathedral, my mouth literally dropped wide open. The cathedral is enormous and the detail in everything is just amazing. In particular, I was amazed at the murals and small mosaic tiles used to create such beautiful masterpieces. This is called the new cathedral and the old cathedral is close to the Arch. We went into both... More

Rivaling many great cathedrals of Europe(and I've been to St. Paul's in Rome), this is the second biggest mosaic cathedral in the world. You'll be glad you went. Everyone I've taken there was surprised and pleased.

Tours not allowed during Mass. Check their website for Mass schedule. There is a museum that is not open past 4. Rivals European tourist traps

Make sure you take a tour and ask for the kids brochure to find hidden pictures in the mosaic. Well worth the visit even if you are not Catholic!

There is no place like this--a Romanesque basilica whose surfaces are 100% mosaic. Massive, spectacular, inspirational, colorful. Clearly one of America's artistic masterpieces. Whether you are religiously inclined or not, this space is a 'must see.' You will not see anything comparable in the US, and very few that could match it anywhere else in the world. And if you... I can't tell you how awe-inspiring the Cathedral is. I'm not religious and I was still blown away. The museum in the basement is not to be missed too, all the staff were super informative.

I was astounded by the size, beauty and overall magnificence of the Basilica! It is massive, and entirely covered in glass mosaic tiles which reflect and refract the light brilliantly. It's one beautiful vignette after another; my neck hurt from admiring every surface. Make sure to visit the little museum in the basement, which has information on the construction, and... More

Magnificent church whose detail and grand scale reminds me of the similar functioning cathedrals in Europe. In an accessible area of west part of St. Louis near lots of the things tourists would be seeing anyway.

The best thing we saw in St. Louis. The most beautiful and awe inducing church I've seen. Staff was friendly. Did not do the tour just showed up and walked around at our own pace. So glad we did.

I felt like I w as in Rome caught up in The Davinci Code. There are not words for the exquisite beauty of this church.
