Love the history

Pythian Castle is a great place to tour. I have participated in a regular tour as well as the ghost tour. Did not see anything "ghostly" but enjoyed the ghostly history.

This is a great story to hear. From Pythians to foreign prisoners of war, this castle has seen some history. The backstory was great but not a place to frequent often.

The tour of this castle was good. The history is rich but the current owner is unsure of where to take the castle. The decor is not of any era, it's kind of cheap. But if you ignore those things, the history of this building is pretty unique. I'd recommend it but don't show up too early, and you will... More

Despite arriving 45 minutes after the advertised opening time, we found the road leading to the castle chained off and a "CLOSED" sign attached. Since there was a public parking lot next door we parked and got out to take some pictures of the exterior. We were still about 200 meters from the castle when a lady ran out, stopped... More

My husband and I decided to stop and take a historical tour of the castle on our way from Wisconsin to Texas. I found the tour informative, I had never heard of the Pythian's before. I loved our tour guide, she was amusing and seemed to really enjoy showing off the old castle. If your looking for a professional tour... More

Stopped to book a tour and was rudely told by the owner that "didn't I read the sign" - and that there was going to be a private party and to leave. No signage by the way.....

$8.50/person for 1-hour historic tour offered twice daily (check the website for times). Nighttime ghost tour is $50/person for about 4 hours. We did the historic tour -- very interesting background to the castle being built and the workmanship... worth the ticket. Located in Springfield.

Old (and probably haunted) halls of this castle are full of rich over 100-year history that this building would be a gem find for those interested in American history beyond the textbooks. Really enjoyed the tour by current owner and would have loved to also to go to a mystery murder dinner that is held there on some days, but... More

This is so cool, for all ages except small children, they have something for everyone. From a history tour, to a ghost haunting, to mystery dinners, to shows, to just about everything. Beautiful for weddings, and thrill seekers. If you are looking for relaxing evening, come for just a history tour, and take in it's glory.
