The nature trails are an amazing place for a walk, jog, etc. Most of the time you will run into all sorts of wildlife, whether it's deer, turkey, chipmunks, lizards, turtles, etc. The trails are beautiful and some of them run alongside Lake Springfield/James River. It's safe, and there are usually plenty of other people around. You can also check... More

The staff at the nature center are very friendly. There are many things for the children to explore in the front building. The trails are gorgeous!! Bring a camera for some great photo opportunities. We saw the beginnings of the leaves changing for Fall; I'm sure it will be even more spectacular in a few weeks. The hike can be... More

We live only a half hour from the Springfield Nature Center. If it's a nice day, and we have no other plans, we will drive to the center for a nature walk. Depending on the time, or distance, we want to spend....there are several options. We enjoy the "long trail" the most. Beautiful surroundings. Sometimes I go there alone to... More

After a long day on the road we really appreciated this beautiful spot to walk off our big dinner. There were a few trails to choose from which were very well marked. The place appears to be very popular with locals. I saw a no dog sign but also saw people with dogs?

....in a convenient location! I took the long trail, earlier this year. The walking was physically taxing, due to my pacing, and the small groups of deer I noticed numbered 4! The feeling was of having been transported to somewhere besides the city!

On a Sunday afternoon outting. I'm disabled and my son pushed my chair down the paved path. We had a picnic down by Lake Springfield. Had fun!

Took the GF's brother and his GF walking here last time they were in town. They have done a lot of improvements to the trails, including paving a large section of them. The non-paved trails are still very well maintained. Saw a large variety of wildlife even though we were only there for a couple hours.

This is a nice little Nature Center for walking with a friend, or your children. They have an indoor experience which is small but nice and educational. You can always see wildlife here especially deer. The wildlife are pretty acclimated so it's easy for you to see them and take pictures. They have the viewing room where you can view... More

We didn't get to stay long, but enjoyed the visitors center and a short walk on one of the trails. Beautiful area. Would like to go back when we have more time and enjoy a picnic and a nice long hike.
