Several of us got together for a bike ride on this beautiful spring day. This lake was a must stop and see, on our way to Dexter to eat ribs at Hickory Log Restaurant. This is a very pristine lake, and it is very much worth your time. The welcome center on the west side of the dam has clean... More

My husband and I have been to this beautiful lake area many times over the years. It's still one of my favorite places to just take in the scenery and relax.

My husband and I stopped at the lake on our way to Kentucky, and were very pleased at the lovely scenery. The lake itself is beautiful, and the park was gorgeous. Very well kept and clean.

Beautiful place--colorful fall trees & lake views are incredible. I saw deer in every area of park--groups of 8-10 deer look up at you then continue to eat. Park ranger was so friendly--had a lot of good conversation & laughs with her. She recommended Lake Trail & it was a great one although more hills than I expected! Can't wait... More

Take a tour of the dam area and visitor's center, which will tell you some of the hsitory surrounding the area dam and lake. There is even a sand beach with roped off swim area. All the park and camping areas are clean, well maintained by the Army Corp of Engineers, and have picnic, play areas and just generally seemed... More

Lake Wappappello seems like home to me. I rode across the DAM many times with my Father while on our way to work. I always loved to look out the window and see the HUGE lake! We swam in it a few times, but more often we played in the spillway on Sabbath afternoons. The St Francis river empties into... More

Lake Wappapello is still recovering from a devastating flood and dam break, which occurred in the Spring of 2011. I think the Corps of Engineers have done a remarkable job of restoring the damaged area, while leaving it for folks to actually see what happened. A very huge section of the roadway at the south end of the dam was... More
