Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drove along it on 2 different occasions. It is just so pretty as it rushing along the side of the highway. There were a lot of people fly fishing & also rafting. Just people enjoying the beautiful weather. Loved seeing it.

Our family of 6 had the most incredible time with Julia as our fearless guide! It was all of our first time white water rafting and it was the perfect amount of adventure, excitement and beauty. Seeing a bald eagle flying overhead at the start of our trip added to the amazing experience.

Snow beautifies any landscape. Well, this one really is gorgeous. Hills, river, forests etc. The river is obviously the centerpiece of the views. A long stretch is protected land inside Yellowstone NP. Caution that the road is also dangerous, especially below Big Sky where folks often are tanked up after skiing, mixed with flatlander rookie drivers in the mountains who rented non-4WD-non-snow tired vehicles, ugh, watch out. Still, would definitely return again and again, as worth the risk ;)

There is a lot of pocket water and riffles and falls. You cannot walk along this river much. You have to pick your spots but there are plenty. The fish are not all that big. But the canyon is stunningly beautiful for several miles above and below Big Sky.

If you are going to raft down the Gallatin River, make sure you have a very capable guide and you check the weather forecast for the day. My family and I vacationed in Montana 9 years ago when we decided to go white water rafting. We started out when it was 70 degrees outside, and as soon as we started the temperature dropped. Halfway through our trip, the air was around 50 degrees Farenheit, and the water only 40, as well as storming.. My brothers and I ended up extremely sick, and to make matters worse, our bus wasn't there to pick us up when we got done. I know if it had been nice weather when we went, we would've had a much better time.

Running thru the heart of the Bozeman Valley with easy access and hungry fish, or just a cool place to soak tired feet. Make sure you follow it all the way to Three Forks and a piece of history.

Any trip to Montana will be filled with great scenery, but the Gallatin Canyon is the most enjoyable drive with the greatest attractions. Looking for great fishing? Then this is the place, whether you fish along the lower stretches or inside Yellowstone park boundaries it is pleasurable. Some great ranches to stop at for accomodations and horse back rides. Many great hiking trails begin here and take you inside Yellowstone. And there is Big Sky ski resort and ultimately you end up at West Yellowstone, best small town around Yellowstone. If you only visit one part of the area around Yellowstone, make it your stop. Early in the spring and later in fall are the best times to enjoy.

This river flows out of Yellowstone Park but is quickly polluted by Big Sky resort’s sewage spills which happen on a regular basis. Yesterday March 3, 2020, 65,000 gallons spilled out onto a lower ski run due to a malfunction and water quality tests are being performed above and below stream.

The Gallatin River in Montana is what fly fishermen must think about all year ...planning vacations to get here, this place was beautiful. this is where Robert Redford filmed 'a river runs through it' and has a lot of history 120 miles long, one of 3 rivers along with Jefferson and Madison that run through Wyoming and Montana to converge near Three Forks Montana. It was a last minute choice for me while at northwest corner of Yellowstone 70 miles away- my friend, a retired police officer and avid fly fisherman , said he was going fishing and I asked if I could go- after going to the sporting goods lodge and getting a license, waders and gear. I had the most amazing day. Breath taking views, scenes out of a movie. Rapids with rainbow trout and fishing guides going by in rafts, helicopters lilting around in distance sightseeing. Fields behind us - and I actually got a bite while standing in the rapids and watching all the activity go on around me.

This was a good river this late in the season to have a family raft trip (kids of 9 & 6). Earlier in the year it would be higher water levels. This is a scenic trip with a lot of fun to be had. The group at Bozeman White Water guides were tremendous, focused on safety and very entertaining. Would do this again in a heartbeat!!
