We learned so much about Russell's life and techniques, the paintings and sketches are amazing! The other artists featured have beautiful pieces, and we were able to tour the Russell home on site! This museum is clean, beautifully lit, extremely detailed and fun. Expect to spend at least two hours taking in all of the sights and info! Staff was... More

The C M Russell museum was a highlight of our trip to Montana and Wyoming. If I were to go back to Great falls I would go again, not to be missed and very well done.

This was a very interesting stop. Along with Russell's history and work you can enjoy other excellent artists in addition to a very interesting native american exhibit. We also toured the Russell home, which was a pleasing piece of history. There is also a very nice, albeit expensive gift shop.

While Great Falls boasts a number of interesting attractions, none is as captivating as the works of CM Russell. The museum typically doesn't operate Mondays but was open on Labor Day sobplan your visit accordingly. There is no photography allowed in the museum, but many of CMR's works are available as prints. Not just an art gallery, the museum also... More

This was a very worthwhile stop. We spent several hours enjoying the art work of C.M. Russell and others. At the time, there was also a large display of Native American Art, headdresses, and artifacts. The C.M.Russell homestead was in it's preserved state and offered much to history of his time.

C. M. Russell was a cowboy who painted and did water colors. His water colors are very good, his painting not so hot. It's worth visiting if the alternative is to do nothing.

Beautiful museum and exhibits. Whether you are a novice to Charlie Russell's art, or well versed, you will come away with a fuller understanding of the man, his art, his family, and his heritage. While we were there, his studio was undergoing renovation, as were some of the museum exhibits (due to flash flood damage) so we could not see... More

We walked quite a way through Great Falls to see this but found the atmosphere a bit intimidating - there were guards all over the place and millions of notices prohibiting anything but breathing. A bit of a disappointment apart from the art work which was stunning

Amazing presentation of Charles M. Russell's works, along with many from his contemporaries. To accurately portray events, Mr. Russell spent 11 years working as a "real" cowboy and living with native Americans, learning first hand what he later put to pen, ink and bronze. Their collective works provide stunning and unique insights into the real "non-Hollywood" American West. Also present... More
