Base personnel were very helpful and explained the security check necessary. We had anticipated just quickly looking at several static airplanes, but were met by the museum director, who was an astounding wealth of information. He took us to each exhibit in the small museum, answered questions, and shared wonderful stories and tales of people, places and history of the... More

Malmstrom AFB was once home to B-17 bomber training during WWII. In recent years the air field has been decommissioned. MAFB's mission is now Minuteman missile defense of the continental US. The museum has a few historical planes outside, but the real treat is inside the museum building. You learn about the history of MAFB, and of the Minuteman missile... More

As Canadians we were welcomed at the base. The adults had to present a picture ID for security check. We were quickly granted access passes and the director Rob met us. Great outdoor aircraft and bomber display including a minuteman III missile. The museum itself was very informative and included a short video. Highly recommended to anyone interested in military,... This is a great introduction to the Minuteman III ICBM mission at Malstrom AFB in Great Falls. This is home to 341st Missile Wing, responsible for several silos dispersed throughout Montana containing approximately 100 LGM-30G Minuteman III missiles with nuclear warheads. Park at the base front gate and get a pass to go to the museum which is right behind... More

If you re interested in knowing more about the base or about the Minuteman program then this museum is an incredible resource. One drawback is the museum is physically on the base so you have to go through Air Force security screening. Once you complete the screening you walk to the museum so you don't have to deal with going... More

The Museum Director, MSgt (Ret) Rob Turnbow, knows his stuff!! I was interested in the history of the missile wing since I was an MCCC (Missile Combat Crew Commander) in the 564th Strategic Missile Squadron (as it was called in the 1970s). I had served at all five LCCs (Launch Control Centers), including the SCP (Squadron Command Post). I had... More

A well traveled museum buff,I highly recommend this stop. History and Military buffs will be thrilled with the one on one attention from an excellent Museum Director! I won't give away the great pre-WWII information that you will acquire - head there yourself and prepare to be amazed. Hint- Civilians not associated with the base can obtain passes at the... More

I liked it, but you really need to be a military history buff to truly enjoy it I think. I would call it an average experience but then, that's just me. Was glad I went, probably not on my top 10 fun things in Great Falls however.

Gives so much info on the history of the Air Force. We should all visit and see where our men who so dedicated have served this country. Please visit so you will support those who serve to keep us free.
