Great place to learn about local history from Native Americans of the region, Lewis & Clark Expedition, the railroad, early settlers, wildlife, etc. So much to take in, two days may not be enough to view everything and see all that is available.

It takes about an hour to see this museum. It was not crowded. The day I went to see the museum, it was raining. So, could not do any outdoor activity. So, checked out this museum

This museum was was moved to the former school. All the desks, books and other can be seen here. We saw how people slept in the trains. There was a lot of the Native Americans. There were lots of heroes of World War 2. They were heroes. This is a museum who showed how people lived, their cars, their homes, their entertainments... There was a great real event that happened in 1936, The sheep herder fell ill. He died. The dog stood there at the depot until he died.…

This railway station/museum is perfectly maintained with displays that are exceptional in the story they tell of the short time when it was the nearest gateway to Yelostone around the turn of the century. Beuatiful station and grounds, and llovely staff.

Located in a former schoolhouse, the Yellowstone Gateway Museum does a fantastic job connecting the history in/around the area to present day. There is a treasure trove of items on display - furniture, clothing, vehicles, tools, art, etc. I quite enjoyed learning about the fire fighters who risk their lives fighting forest fires. The stories about local war veterans was humbling. The one-room schoolhouse and blacksmith/wheel workshop out back was like stepping into a time machine. I quite enjoyed all of the vehicles stored in the rear, especially the old fire engines. The staff members are super friendly and are a wealth of information. And before you leave, don’t forget to vote for your favorite chair...…
