Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the most beautiful lakes in the West. (very) slightly larger than Lake Tahoe but with a fraction of the traffic. You can fish, boat, jet ski or wakeboard on the lake without ever feeling constrained by another boat. The south end of the lake (at Polson) is surrounded by rolling hills and meadows. Polson is the largest (and most commercial) town on the lake, with a golf course, restaurants etc. On the east and west sides are many cherry (and increasingly apple) orchards. On the northern end, the lake is surrounded by pine forests and in Somers, fields of canola farms. Lakeside, on the west side, is predominantly a camping and fishing town, with easy boat rentals and multiple brew-pub style restaurants. On the northwest side is Bigfork, a small town with more of a tourist feel - art galleries, restaurants and a summer playhouse. There are also boat rentals here, as well as easy access to the river for fishing.

Beautiful lake. We hiked, paddled and dined at Flathead..easy drive from
Kalispell /whitefish.. much larger than whitefish.. crystal clear and not over crowded..wonderful views from various spots around lake. Would like to get to wild horse island when it’s more in season. Big arm, big fork and lakeside were most welcoming/scenic and easy to find a rental, restaurant, state park, restroom and the like

What a beautiful lake, so clear and sparkling in the sun! Driving around both sides of the lake reveals cherry orchards with stands selling cherry products, seeing families playing in the chilly water, lots of marinas of boats of all types, and cool shops and restaurants to discover. Take time to enjoy this largest lake west of the Mississippi River!

The lake itself. So beautiful. Great dinner at The Shop. Think that's what it's called. Stayed at Port Poulson

We stopped at Wayfarers / Flathead Lake State Park on our way to Yellowstone and it was beautiful. It was so easy to find and is literally right on the way. Very clean with picnic tables and a restroom. Easy access to the lake front and there is a boat dock you can walk out onto. The water is crystal clear, so if you need a quick break, this is a nice stop!

We had a wonderful afternoon sailboat experience with gosailmontana.com just sailing and motoring around the lake area from Polson. It was a super fun way to see some of the beautiful scenery and homes from the lake perspective and our captain was so nice and knowledgable about sailing.

Driving from Butte to Yellowstone the route that takes you along Flathead lake is definitely worth the time. There are plenty of beautiful vistas and areas to stop and take pictures of the lake and surrounding mountains which are quite stunning. It’s an easy leisurely drive.
