Took grandkids
Jul 2021
Took two grandchildren for about 3 hours and had a great time. Recent updates make this one of the best zoos for kids you can find. Clean, well organized, lots of shade, and decent snacks and drinks onsite.

What a wonderful enjoyable surprise!
May 2021
We had some extra time waiting for friends and thought we'd give it a try. We were blown away! Just big enough to be enjoyable and not to big to worn out trying to see everything. Price very reasonable. If we lived in the area we'd buy an annual pass. Not at all like Henry Doorly which is too large and ridiculously over priced. You couldn't get a better bang for your buck by coming here.

Fun little zoo
Apr 2021 • Family
This is zoo #49 for us. The name says it all, this is a children's zoo, so there are a ton of playgrounds at this zoo. They had an interesting animal mix at this zoo. They didn't have much in way of hooved animals or large African animals ( no zebras, lions, or hippos). Where they excelled was having great habitats and they had a ton of small animals that are not at a ton of zoos ( bush baby, fossa, and a few others). They also had a great Cheetah exhibit. Would come here again if in Lincoln.

Perfect little zoo!
Mar 2021 • Family
This was the perfect thing to do for myself and two teen girls after visit the UNL campus. We were looking for something fun to do that was not college related and this fit the bill. Close to downtown (about a 10 minute drive) and just the right size for a few hours fun. Don’t leave without feeding the giraffes, and look for the peacocks, penguins and flamingos! They also have some goats, camels, turkeys, snow leopards, an anteater, and lots of monkeys!

So fun!!
Mar 2021 • Family
First time visit, and even though it was too cool for some animals, we loved it! The grandkids had so much fun! Loved that it wasn't this huge sprawling zoo, that the adults were exhausted by the time we were done! We could walk on mostly level ground, and the kids could walk right up to stuff!! Great job city of Lincoln!!!

I have always loved this zoo

Not a huge amount of walking, lots of hand on experiences. Just right for kids in terms of time commitment. Recommend it for kids too young to deal with Henry Doorly,

Lots of different animals and fun ways to interact with the animals. Our favorite is feeding the giraffes. Fun to visit again and again!

You "otter" go!!
Oct 2020 • Friends
The zoo is on the same lot as the rose gardens and across the street from the sunken gardens. 3 venues within a block of each other! (The gardens are FREE!)
It is an easy zoo to walk. If kids get restless they have a few play areas and climbing activities. You can pet and feed the giraffes. The animals are easy to see and enjoy. They also have a few fun animal sculptures. Several flower beds to enjoy as well. Kids big and little enjoy.
