I spent lots of time at McConaughy as a kid and then I brought my kids here. This summer I was able to bring my grandkids. It is a huge lake and there was plenty of room for everyone. We hit one perfect day out...More

Super clean sites, amazing views, full hook ups....what more could you ask for? We stayed in Eagle Hallow campground at the State Recreation Area. The road in is a bit beat up, but the destination is worth it!

We just drove around the lake and checked it out. Pretty cool to see camping right on beaches... it was a cool and cloudy day so no real beach or water activities were going on. We really didn’t see beautiful beaches to actually play and...More

spent a long weekend from Fri-Mon. it was quiet and peaceful. The train runs close to the lake but you hardly hear it. Facilities are well kept and fairly clean. Camping on the beach is wonderful and the people are about as nice as you...More

Gorgeous views with the blue sky and the popping blue lake. Lots to do in the area. I saw golf, boat ramps, and camping. I am sure there is swimming and fishing as well. This is obviously off season but the scenery is beautiful regardless

beaches and camping is the best part of this whole large lake and area, unless you have a boat, then the fishing and skiing are fantastic.

I took my two grandsons camping on the beaches of this lovely lake. So much sand and of course they loved the water. I would imagine it gets pretty busy but we were there in June and was very quiet. There are nice campgrounds but...More

Yes, Fires are allowed as a part of the rules for the lake. There are fire grates in pay campgrounds and on the beach they are allowed and you must extinguish them upon departure.
