Great museum!

We were in town for Nevada Day so the museum was free to the public. Great information on mining, Indians, and Nevada history. Well worth your time to visit.

Great coverage of Nevada's history of native Americans, mining, early settlers, and minting of gold and silver coins. Extensive rock and mineral exhibits showing raw gold and silver ore. Plus exhibits of pioneer life style and hardships they faced settling in the area. You are able to walk through the original mint and view a working coin press, and an... More

I called to find out about tours at the Nevada State Museum as we had a limited amount of time in Carson City and also wanted to see the Capitol. The woman I spoke with was incredibly friendly and arranged a tour for my husband and I for both the Museum and the Capitol. Our guide was Dan and he... More

Enjoyed this museum as it gave an overview of Nevada history in a well organized way. We had a guide, but that was not neccesary to get the picture. The best part was the silver mine in the basement-very realistic of what it was like.

What a wonderful museum. All the displays were excellent. The information was extensive and so informative. In particular the American Indian display and the underground mine replica were very good indeed. The staff were very helpful. Highly recommended.

This museum is a real gem. Skip the capitol building and spend your time here. It's clean and modern and packed with interesting artifacts and displays related to mining, history, and minting coins.

To start out, you are visiting a building of note surrounded by other building of historical Carson City. There are two sections. The Native American side is interesting and worth a visit. The History of Nevada side had many interesting collections. I felt the tour of a simulated mine was unique and exciting. The Nevada coin minting history and collection... More
