Very nice facility, very informative and interesting. We've stopped twice here and find it very worthwhile - we keep learning. They had a few school classes go through while we were there. The staff are great with them as well as with us adults. It was fun watching them.

I took some young friends out to see the sites. They didn't have the patience to read every sign and display but instead went through the hall the tones and stopped at different displays every time around. The dress up trunks and the wagon odometer were the big hits (because they got the spin the big wheel). We also enjoyed... More

If you weren't interested in the emigrants journey across the Great Basin in the 1800's before you stop you will be after you stop. Great presentations for all aspects of the great journey West. Very inspiring to see and hear. Don't miss it. It's right off the freeway, you'll be in the parking lot there in two minutes. Be sure... More

This place is great! It's very hands-on, which offers a unique way to let people learn the history of not only the California Trail but also life as a pioneer heading west in the mid-1800s. The displays are engaging, the murals (depicting myriad "Westward Movement" scenes) were very well done, the information on the placards was plentiful (and accompanied by... More

Stopped by here while on vacation, had a great time. Went away with a much better understanding and appreciation for the early settlers who came thru here on their way to California and the gold rush. Take the time to absorb whats here. If you are a student of the West, this is a good place to learn some interesting... More

Free and very informative on what the pioneers had to endure while traveling west to California via covered wagon. Very well done and a joy to experience. Kids will love it too

Almost missed the turn off I80 for this and very glad I did not. Well laid out gardens and fantastic building housing a very informative display of the history of the pioneers on the California trail. Staff were welcoming and informative.

I am a local. I am also a history buff. I bring people who visit my family to this great historic place. They always enjoy it too. It has wagons you can climb up into and period dress exhibits just to mention a few.

Great lecture on the Shoshone Indians with some education on basic language and verbal history. Also, the art from the local students was amazing! & of course, a great California Trail Interpretive Center!

Very informative and well done. Lots of information and good displays. We liked the trails and seeing the teepees on site. A short drive from Elko Nevada.
