My wife and I have been birders for most of our lives, as well as frequent visitors to Las Vegas, so it was natural that we would gravitate to this preserve. The people in the office where you sign-in have been consistently helpful and will happily lend you binos if we don't own a pair. Any time of year you... More

We visit every time we are in Vegas. Good for a morning walk. Friendly and helpful staff. Birds change with the season and we usually see some different birds.

I really don't like to leave a review because this is one of the best kept birders secrets. I love this place. I go to Henderson Bird Preserve several times a year to see the birds, ducks, trees, and have a great walk. You can only access it from the main door which keeps it private. They provide binoculars and... More

Want to spend a 2-3 hrs walking in a nice wetlands park in the middle of the desert, here it is. Far more types of waterfowl than you would ever expect. A completely different walking park than the others. Get there.

I think it will be better in the fall, winter, and spring. Still were birds there though. If you have seniors that may have trouble walking a long ways (it is VERY spread out) you can call ahead and make reservations for a guided tour on their golf cart. Seats maybe 4 guests but you need to call ahead to... More

I have been visiting the preserve for years and have never been disappointed. The number and variety of birds is simply amazing! The staff provides a "bird watching" card so you can identify the birds you see (and mark that you've seen them...sort of a Bingo concept). If you don't have binoculars they will some to you. The paved trail... More

This used to be a water treatment facility. Not in use anymore, but they kept the bassins that attract many birds, especially in the winter. Last november the ponds were pretty full. This time there were not as many birds yet, in particular not the migrating warblers, but dragonflies and damselflies were abundant. I did see avocets, various sandpipers, and... More

Bring your binoculars if you really want to see the birds. You'll need a hat and lots of water during the summer daytime. Very hot with little shade. Nice trails.

What an excellent hidden gem in Henderson/Vegas! Family friendly - air-conditioned and very informational visitor center, clean restrooms with a baby changing table. Thoughtfully built - bird hides/blind(slotted viewing at various heights, great for those with a telephoto lense), lookouts/viewing platforms, benches (under trees), and leveled foot paths. An easy walk with the family, and a wide variety of birds,... More

This preserve is such a peaceful and welcoming oasis in the valley--a real treasure. If you like birds, you will *love* this preserve. So many birds to see, and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Can't wait to visit again.
