We spent some time here learning about the lake, and what everyone can do to preserve and protect its beauty and clarity. The tour takes a little over an hour and the docent that gave the tour was very informative. UC Davis has had a research center on the lake for a long time monitoring all aspects of the lake.... A great learning experience. Hands on activities for everyone that help you understand how water moves through the mountains. Great for understanding how the Lake Tahoe ecosystem works, how the lake was formed, and how it is managed. Very helpful staff.

TERC is the premier research center studying Lake Tahoe. Visiting the TERC exhibit at Sierra College outside Incline Village allowed us to get a great perspective on the geology and history of the Lake Tahoe region as well as a sample of the research going on to study the lake and its environment. Highlights were the augmented reality sand box... More

Wonderful place to learn about Tahoe and how--despite man's screw-ups--the Lake has managed to overcome and remain as beautiful as it has. (But we still need to take care of it)

This research center is run by the University of California Davis. The tour (opens at 1pm) covers the history of Lake Tahoe, mining and development, and the health of local forests and Lake Tahoe. The guide covered the depth of the lake (1,600 feet), 6,200 feet about sea level, and 6th largest freshwater lake in the United States. The health... More

There are few addresses in Nevada. It is located on the college campus (2nd driveway off Hwy 28) It is totally unstaffed until 1:00 pm. I did interactive activities until then. Some displays not working and nobody to ask.

If you would like to learn some really interesting science about Lake Tahoe, this is the place. The docent was extremely nice and knowledgable and spent an hour showing my wife and I around the center.
