Staying in South Lake Tahoe we saw that the first "must see" stop was Emerald Bay and a short hike to Eagle Lake and Eagle Falls. We arrived around 9am and were the second car in the lot. We did the short hike up to the falls. Falls are nice, but the mountain views were epic. We continued on to... More

We spent a couple of hours hiking Eagle Falls/Loop on a Saturday and while it was busy, it wasn't prohibitive. It's an easy to moderate hike, with well maintained, easily identifiable trails. Lots of places to pull off and enjoy the scenery. It was hot--bring water in July. There were some folks in flip flops, which I would never recommend,... More

Hiked from the parking area to lower eagle falls and on up to Eagle Lake. About 1 mile in and 1 mile back. The trip is less than 500 feet of elevation change, but, you are climbing nearly the entire way and mostly the trail has been carved into steps along the way. Eagle lake is crystal clear, cool and... Definitely get here early! At 9:15 we still got a parking spot right at the trailhead, but by the time we got back from the lake around 11 parking was a zoo! Unless you get lucky and catch someone leaving, you're going to have a walk from the highway. Hike itself isn't long, but is fairly steep with lots of... More

Just a short drive from South Lake Tahoe, you can take in an enjoyable short hike up to Eagle Falls. The view from the hike is awesome.

Beautiful hike up through a trail to a scenic lake. Wear a suit and bring towels to jump In the lake. What a breathtaking view!

We just did it 2 days ago with 2 families and 3 small kids - 1yr, 3yr, 4yr old. - It is only about 10-15min to go up to see the nice falls - hike is bit rocky but not bad, no strollers though. If it is raining, would advise not to go up with kids. - Parking is ~$5... More

The hike from the parking area to the falls is only about 1/4 mile. It's uphill, but the trail is well maintained. It's an easy trail for kids, but keep a close watch on them, since there are some drop-offs. The falls are beautiful. There is a footbridge over the top of the falls, so you can get a great... More

Eagle Falls is spectacular. We got to the trailhead by 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning and were able to find parking in the lot (on a fee free day even), but it filled up soon afterwards. The hike is steep up to the falls. There is a loop that you can make, which we did. If you want a... More

As many times as I have been to South Lake Tahoe, I never knew there were so many beautiful waterfalls. Eagle Falls is a must for all to see. It is only a few miles from the city and has some amazing waterfalls. There are several places to look at the falls and if you can, walk the trail. It... More
