Went here while in Las Vegas...what a wonderful change of pace from the Strip, etc. Beautiful rock formations, good hiking and a lovely park to drive through too. Highly recommend .

I would suggest going by one of the touring buses. They make all the main stops and stress free and you get to meet people along with all the historic information that most people miss

It depends on the time of year you go. I'd go in the morning in the summer before the heat of the day sets in.
