The Strip

About
Stretching for over 4.2 miles, the most famous entertainment destination in the U.S. showcases an eclectic collection of mega hotels and resorts, glitzy casinos, lavish shopping malls, and Michelin-starred restaurants. The best way to enjoy the Strip is to stroll down the avenue and marvel at free spectacles like the dancing fountains of Bellagio and the erupting volcanoes of The Mirage. Or rest your legs by joining an open-top bus tour that cruises down the boulevard. For a more adventurous experience, splurge on a luxurious helicopter tour for a bird’s eye view of Las Vegas’ iconic landmarks. – Tripadvisor

Lots of booty (for pictures and a price!) on display and it takes a while to get to the casino next door!Visited March 2023Written 26 March 2023
- Carol N6 contributionslong walkThe hotels are close enough to be able to visit them. The stores are great. So much construction going on, I didn't like it. The streets are cleaned up....no more homeless on the streets, that was a welcome site.Visited March 2023Written 1 April 2023
- Mudeford 123113 contributionsGot to go once in your lifeHad always said we would visit one day. Can get very busy especially at night but never felt unsafe. Lights at night are spectacular. Popping into various themed hotels is good fun. Miracle mile good for cheap restaurants. On the negative side permanent smell of cannabis which is unpleasant. Not disappointed but won't be coming back.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 April 2023

- Steve T12 contributionsIt’s Vegas!Love the sights, especially at night. LOTS of people! Very expensive!! Avoid the 360 degree VR ‘chairs’. Three minutes of mediocre virtual reality with a cheap Quest style headset, for $35+ U.S. Go see Flyover at the former Hard Rock café, much better experience, and cheaper to boot!Visited May 2023Written 5 May 2023
- Harrison WAdelaide, Australia161 contributionsSuper walkableCame to Las Vegas for my sister's 21st and what a way to celebrate! You must definitely can't walk from the airport to the strip, as it all seems a lot closer than it really is, but once on the strip, you can easily walk from one end to another. may take a bit of time but hey that's how you see everything and discover the little hidden gems of the strip. If you don't like walking they have a couple of monorails from different hotels to take you around and there are plenty of escalators to take you up and around the overpasses to make walking the strip more convenient. Be prepared though there are dudes trying to hand out cards and CD's and they will make you pay if you touch/ take them. Can also get really hot during the day and with the sun reflecting off the hotels and pavement so make sure to wear comfy shoes and water.Visited April 2023Written 14 May 2023
- Grover RPensacola, Florida18,062 contributionsWhy You Come to Las Vegas - Adult Playground of Lights, Shows and MealsWe visited Las Vegas as the final part of our 8 couple Spring Break trip after seeing the Utah 5 national parks. I will say most of our group were not gamblers so we were looking for other attractions in the city and the Strip itself is a highlight. We stayed at the Paris Las Vegas, ate at many places along the Strip and saw two shows on the Strip, the Beatles Cirque du Solie and Matt Franco's Magic Show. Whether day or night there is always something to do here. This is why you come to Las Vegas in so many ways.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 June 2023
- Daniel Matless13 contributionsBe prepared to walk.....a lot! It`s not really possible to sum up the strip in one review. 3 or 4 miles of huge casino resorts, free shows such as the Bellagio fountains & mirage volcano, (be quick, it `s going this year, cafe`s, bars, shops, etc are what`s on offer. Everywhere is further away than it looks, It can take 10 minutes to walk past just one of the big resorts. Wear comfortable shoes & clothes and stop off for drinks along the way, and if you decide to explore any of the big hotels, allow at least an hour for each. We enjoy picking a street-side cafe or bar and people-watching for a while before heading off to explore further.Visited June 2023Written 11 June 2023
- 1stHonestReviewer33 contributionsAmazing ExperienceLas Vegas is for everyone even if your not a gambler, we walked from hotel to hotel just enjoying the experience and air conditioning. Felt very safe all the time day and night. Make sure you check the times to see the fountains erupt at the Bellagio and the Volcano at the Mirage- amazing and not over crowded. Use Walgreens and CVS for cheaper drinks to take to take in your room than hotel prices, seems to be a thing that wandering around drinking is quite popular for all ages. Use the Deuce bus to Hop on and off, better to by a 3 day pass rather 24 hr pass. Do compare Uber prices to local taxi's as did not seem to be same charges as UK so not always cheaper. Be prepared to tip but we had amazing service everywhere so well worth it. There is a free tram from Mandela Bay to save a few foot steps if walking down to the Las Vegas Sign.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 July 2023
- TofurryRenton, Washington1,051 contributionsA lot to explore along the Strip, but do it at night!Fun to walk or drive up and down the Strip, but walking should be during the evening time in July. Otherwise, it is so hot! It got to 107 degrees when we were there in mid-July. It is also nice to see it all lit up in the dark. Free parking is offered by only few hotels. The rest seem to have free parking for 1 hr. The hotels we parked at for free were Treasure Island, Venetian and Rio. The Strip is huge though.Visited July 2023Written 22 July 2023

Very expensive. It is no longer a cheap destination. Shows very good and so is Fremont Street experience. But many of the casinos are owned by MGM and they are not as distinct as they used to be.

We stayed at the Palazio, well located, suites are very nice; check-in/out easy. Went to the Sphere saw U2 - Incredible; Highly Recommend (Get seats on Level 2 and above, or Level 1 Rows 1 to 20). Dined at BRERA osteria; Great food, great service, great price/value; close to the Sphere entrance. Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen at Caesar's; Great service, good food, good price (Get the Prix menu), excellent drinks. Lunch at Cañonita; very good but pricey. Royal Britannia Gastropub; good food, good price, nice beer selection, good service. Suggest making reservations for dinner, especially on weekends.
I have not been to Las Vegas in 10 years, changed so much. There was so much to see and do walking around and in each of the resort courts/malls. Didn't do too much gambling. So, if you don't gamble, you'll have fun.

Nothing like the vegas strip. It's getting very expensive to stay on the strip. Lots of walking. The hotels look close but it's a good walk to each of them.

Getting around the strip is difficult. To aid, there are bridges equipped with escalators. But believe me when I say that you will suffer if you are older or not in good health. We walked all day when we went shopping and to casinos. We finished our lunches. Walking and shopping were enjoyable.

The Strip is a great experience and remains constantly clean with a good amount of staff support in its upkeep. You can spend hours just checking out the delights.

It's a lot of walking and you learn the best routes of going into hotels, various bridges, and escalators/stairs to get around the strip.

Much better than three years ago! No more people sprawled out on the sidewalks and pedestrian bridges. It's much less scary than in the past now. With all the sidewalk entertainer wannabes flashing the flesh, this is no place for families pushing strollers at midnight.
Most of the tourists now seem to be fairly young and don't look like the well-heeled gamblers of past decades. With the city now catering to casual tourists everything is priced double what it should be. Beer is $10-$15 everywhere. Meals are so very high, too. I spotted a $27 cheeseburger meal at Johnny Rockets!!
And you had better be in good physical shape to walk the Strip as everything looks deceivingly close and there are absolutely no benches anywhere. Over 50% of the bridge escalators are out of order as well as many of the elevators. Mostly the "up" escalators, too!
It's an exciting destination for the young and rich today. Just bring your patience to deal with the crowds and traffic.

Hate the fact that everything revolves around casinos. Very difficult to move efficiently from one locale to another without being obligated to pass through a casino.
Food was overpriced, oversized, and mediocre at best.
Tram transportation was uncoordinated and generally took as much time as walking.

Walked; impossible to avoid drunks, drug addicts homeless and mentally unstable people.
The new buildings “casinos” are high rise apartments. Nostalgia is being faded out.

It is really hard to describe the strip, it is a great place with about anything you could want. The casinos/ hotels are all over the top and offer a different vibe. There is a lot to see and don’t be fooled by the actual distance between places, it might look close but it can be quite a walk just from one to the next. It is a sight to see and really comes alive at night.

Hello. We have our first vacation to the Vegas Strip booked at the Venetian in late May. Reviews are making us rethink our plans. We will have our two teenage daughters with us. Is it safe for our family to be on the strip? How concerned should we be with the drug use, crime, and overall sketchiness of those other than tourists like us?

i have been Vegas more than 10 times and just stay Venetian in November 2021.
As long as you travel with kids all the time is fine.
I will suggest going day tour
1) helicopter tour from west grand canyon for
Grand Canyon Discovery by maverick helipcopter
2) family photo at Skywalk
3) upper or Lower Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend
4) Gondola Rides at the Venetian
5) watch show
6) Eiffel Tower
have fun and stay trip :)

Doing a surprise 40th bday trip for my husband in July and his two of his best friends as an all guys trip. What hotel would you recommend they stay at? He’s never been and always wanted to go. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you in advance 😁

Right now yes! Mostly everything is open. Some places have a max. But make sure to just set reservations before you go anywhere and you should be fine.

Some are open, but some not, and with a spike in Clark County cases, there is talk of closing again.
There are a dozen active threads on the Las Vegas Destination Forum, which get updates daily, if not hourly.
I would head to that Forum, and bookmark a few of those update threads.
Best of luck, and happy anniversary,

Depends on where you are going. If just around town, Uber or the bus are best. If wanting to go to Hoover Dam or hiking out of town, you can use Hotwire to get a really cheap car. Pick up at the airport

Planning my first trip to Vegas in early April - any safety concerns for a solo traveler?
I know I want to see the canals at the Venetian, possibly ride the High Roller (even though it scares me lol), see the Flamingos, check out Minus 5 Ice Bar and ride the Monorail... and play poker and roulette of course!
What else should I see / do that is reasonably priced? Any tips for a solo traveler?
Thanks! =)

Helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon with Papillon Tours was superb although a bit on the pricey side.
Slotzilla zipline on Freemont St is awesome fun.
Venetian Casino canals, shops and food court are great as are the Forum shops at Caesars Palace. Avoid shops at the Cosmopolitain as they are all high end.
High Roller Wheel is a must. Take the Happy Hour rotation if you like a drink. Bar service is fast and you can make it pay for itself if you knock a few back :)
Don't miss the Bellagio Fountains, they're amazing and free.
Freemont Street at night is brilliant fun and if you go there, take a slice of pizza at Pizza Rock-it's out of this world.
Other cheap eats: Shake Shack, The Donut Store near Freemont St, Grimaldi's Pizza (various locations) and snacks in Eataly are all reasonably priced as is In n Out Burger on the Linq promenade. On the pricier side, Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace is superb and if you really want to splash out on a meal, The Eiffel Tower restaurant is just the best. Work some overtime, get saving and treat yourself. Have an amazing break, as we did 👍
As for the down and outs, girls dressed as showgirls asking for pictures, then trying to charge you, also people dressed as super heroes and Disney characters, little Asian women trying to sell you bracelets and men who will give you cards for prostitutes. Either look away or politely say "no thanks" and they will leave you alone. We thought it was very safe as long as you do expect to witness some or other erratic behaviour on the strip around once every ten minutes.
