Great way to escape the heat and enjoy the beauty of nature just 30 minutes outside of Vegas.

Some good trails, skiing, decent food, beautiful surroundings, and cooler temps--a welcome respite from the heat of Vegas summers.

Need to get down to Real Nature, go there. Temperatures vary according to the seasons. Beautiful in the winter, but dress Warm.

We got to sled and hike and finished it off with Hot Chocalate at the Lodge. Be early to get good parking.

Great mountain for hiking the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Also nearby is a ski area and a lodge and there are small cabins that you can also rent nearby

Awesome hiking just to west of vegas. Easy to get to and big fun to hike. Much cooler than vegas so dress for weather. Be careful to watch signs and markers...we got lost but easy to get back. Had a blast and not another soul around. Most folks don't got to vegas to hike!

A summer visit! Temperature is cooler than Las Vegas. We had a picnic and enjoyed the trees and the picnic areas. We had to pay though. I know there is another way but I have to find it. I enjoyed the drive and the views. It's a nice summer activity to get away from the 110 degree temp in Vegas.

Mount Charleston is a year round playground. From skiing in the winter to hiking in the summer when temps are too hot in the valley. Scenery is phenomenal. Be careful though because it is at a higher elevation, which means may be difficult for those with breathing problems or not used to physical exercise. Bring LOTS of water with you.... More

Located about 30 minutes away from the Strip, this is a great place for a person to get away from the madness and get in touch with nature. It is a bit cooler here, so it snows in the winter time and is a great place to hike in the summer without a great risk of getting severe dehydration. There... More
