We found this hidden gem and loved it so much we spent several hours there! I loved that it's just barely off Fremont Street and there's no cover charge (only a one-drink minimum). We visited on a Friday night where they were having open mic night. It was a blast! Not too crowded, mostly locals, friendly staff, entertaining performances, everything was great. This is definitely my kind of scene (a mom nearing her 40's)! Thanks for a great night!!

bartender said to ask for a song & add a tip. I did & she rolled her eyes & made a big production. Then She needed a break & when she sung It was obvious this wasn't a song she liked. (Shallow). I felt completely disrespected.

Don't Tell Mama is a a cute little no frills piano bar in downtown Vegas. You're not going to be blown away by the hundreds of thousands the owners spent sprucing the place up just for your delicate sensibilities, 'cause they didn't. It's small and dark with tables and booths along the wall. Looks like a dive bar. Feels like a dive bar. LOVED IT! We went on a Wednesday night about 8:30 and stayed for a couple of hours. Started slow and started filling up more by about 9:30

Yes, there is a full bar. We stuck with beer so I won't be doing a review on the drinks beyond saying that the service was fast and friendly. I liked all of the staff there. The Blue Moon bottles were $6 but there's no cover charge. They cut off one guy who was obviously toasted and needed to leave, but without any fuss. It's nice to see things handled well.

The piano player, Kenny Davidson, was top notch. Ran through the standards you'd expect, Billy Joel, Elton John, Beatles, and such. Able to handle anything the audience threw at him. Fantastic, especially on the Elton John songs. You can't have a piano bar without a fantastic pianist, and Kenny was excellent.

The bartenders could sing their tails off. They did a number of covers that I recognized but couldn't tell you the names of the artists beyond a Miriah Carey and a Cher number. They were having a blast performing and really do have the chops for it. Very much appreciated!

Now, things came off the rails with the professionals dropping in for a little play time. One of Las Vegas' crown jewels, Savanah Smith, dropped in and did a few numbers. She started with a piece from Wicked that was as good as what we saw on Broadway several years ago. A jazz mash up followed that was even better. I haven't been been blown away like that by a vocalist in years and I'll freely admit to being a music snob.

A little later, an a cappella quartet, These Guys Acapella, dropped in for a set. Again, Wow! Looking them up later, I saw that they're out of L.A. Definitely worth seeing if you get the chance.

Don't Tell Mama is one of those places that you don't know what you're going to get, but it's going to be good, for the most part. One caveat: They do allow people in the audience to tip the pianist and get up and sing. Two of the folks were awful, but fortunately not too hard to ignore.

Good mix of tourists and locals. Just a fun time all the way around. It's hip little spot where you can let your hair down. You don't know who or what you're going see, and that's part of the fun.

The immediate area is fine. The surrounding area is rough. I'd park in the Fremont Experience parking or at the public parking lot next to the Container Park. I wouldn't park down some side street ten minutes away to save on paying for parking. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, and casinos all around the area, so it's not going to be difficult to make an evening of it.

One suggestion would be to bring enough cash to tip often. The bartenders bring around the tip bowl after their performances and push for tips for the pianist, too.

One of the best bars in Vegas! Small - very small, teeny-tiny small - but well worth either the wait or coming back/in early. Singing bartenders (Dre is INCREDIBLE and the relatively few folks I've seen on so-called talent search television shows aren't fit to carry her luggage), an in-house piano player (please remember to tip!) and a sound man/DJ who's also a trumpeter all add to the charm of this torch-y piano pub. Feels like home even if you're a tourist with nicely poured drinks and a low-key atmosphere. Most of the 15 songs we heard were mid-70s t0 late-90s pop standards, but Dre did an amazing version of Pasty Cline's "Walking After Midnight", which worked well for everyone listening. Patrons are encouraged to sing as well, with turns taken by writing your name and song on a cocktail napkin, given to the pianist. As with other reviewers, I'd suggest getting there are around 8 p.m., so that your evening starts at Don't Tell Mama, as our attempt to enter at 11 p.m. the night before was unsuccessful. Also, the posted signs note that no one under 21 is admitted to the bar, so keep this in mind when planing your visit. Parking on a weekend may be a challenge but PLEASE make this a stop on your itinerary if you're staying in one of the many downtown hotels. It truly is a not-to-be-missed experience if you love live music, great drinks and a relaxed atmosphere with an excellent mix of friendly folks, whether native or tourist.

Don't be put off by first impression, this is a fun night and place is safe. Pianist is very talented, and helps people out with the lyrics if they get stuck. Some very talented people showed up, great singers. Fun times, highly recommend!

Like this place great theme and a very pleasant way to get a break from the craziness of Fremont Street. No cover and affordable drinks, not impressed with the beer selection but that was my only complaint. The pianist was excellent and knew a lot of obscure music requests. Only once did I see him checking his IPad for the sheet music.

While we were there their were a couple of customers who sang AND were talented, (never a certainty). One of the Bar maids got up next and was very good, she put a lot of energy into her performance. Will be back.

The staff are all excellent performers. Frankie the piano player is the main cog and the staff take turns singing and OMG can they sing.

Very casual but a ton of fun. Fair bar prices for the location. Very safe area.

A must for anyone cool to visit.

I've been to Vegas 8 times or so and have done all the "tourist must do's", but this should be on the list for sure! However, I am glad it is not because thats what makes this place so cool. It is not packed full of meatheads and super loud tourists. Its a mix of regular locals and cool visitors. The staff was amazing and fun and the talent behind the piano was incredible! Even if you tip like crazy (and you should!) it will still be a cheaper night out than any night club or bar on the strip. I went to the dueling piano's at NYNY the next night and all I wanted was to be back at Don't Tell Mama's. NYNY it cost 20$ just to get in and then at least 20$ to choose between AC/DC or Bon Jovi. At Don't Tell Mama i could pay 1$ or 2$ and request any song I could think of. We literally didn't have a request not performed. Go there with a few really good friends and soak it in, let loose, and enjoy this hidden gem. You won't regret it!!

Was here and was definitely a unique setup as opposed to traditional karaoke bars. They have a live piano player who will play the music and no machine for the words so you will need to pull them on your phone or sing from memory. The bartenders go up and perform as well! Asia was our bartender/waitress and she was very friendly and a good singer as well! This is definitely a cool place to try out when in Downtown Fremont area.
