Good History and Art

We tried the first day to see this museum, but succeeded the next day: it has very great historic pieces along with contemporary and the history is everywhere

Great Art Museum, hidden gem. There certainly is a western ambience to the museum although there was a nice variety of paintings. Pleasant way to spend an afternoon

We've been to Reno many times but had never been to the museum. If you have an hour to spare, visit the museum. The building is relatively small and very doable. Their collection is small with not many known artists outside Nevada (guess). Nevertheless we recommend it. We went on a Thursday to find that it was "First Thursday" and... More

I grew up in Chicago and visited the Art Institute dozens of times. This is not that collection. But it is a wonderful space that looks broadly at art, from DaVinci etchings to Native American weaving, from photography to multi-media, classic to modern sculpture. Every visit I've made has been a new experience, often thought provoking. A couple of hours... More

We went here to see some fascinating art. I think there's not enough artworks to see. They should put more.

The art was relatively decent for a museum of that size in a town as small as Reno, but they had serious issues with our group. We had 11 middle school students with two chaperones. Our kids were well behaved for their age. They did speak above a whisper and walked rather quickly, but the museum staff acted as though... More

Just want to preface this review with I've travelled around the world and seen all sorts of museums and exhibits. That being said I just thought that the exhibits here though a few unique just did not do anything for me and my wife. The museum had, over 2 floors, maybe 10 or 12 galleries, but I thought most uninteresting... More

This is a treasure that we spend time at whenever we visit the area. They have exhibits that are always interesting, and beautiful. Additionally, the restaurant in the museum is great. When we were there they had a corn chowder that was great. Go to the museum and be surprised at how cool the art scene is in Nevada.

We enjoyed seeing art of contemporary artists. I've seen enough of the older art work although I admire, I want to see shows that are more thought provoking. This is a beautiful museum. There is a cafe also. Give it a try. Reno is not just gambling and shows.

Thank Kathy K
