Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Built in 1908, Saint Thomas Aquinas Cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese in Reno. It is an interesting contrast in architecture with its ornate spires on the church. In the background is the downtown casino area of Reno. The inside of the church is also beautiful to see.
It is an active congregation and if interested in attending public is invited to attend services. For us, we have seen it in our travels to Reno.

Hidden in the shadows of the casinos this little gem of a cathedral is worth a visit when you are downtown by the Reno Riverwalk. Beautifully renovated in 2010 with stained glass that depicts different milestones in the life of the catholic church in the western part of the US.
The mural behind the altar is worth a couple of minutes of study, as are the copper entrance doors - overall a bit of quiet in the hustle and bustle of downtown Reno.
The cathedral was built in 1906, damaged by fire in 1909, salvaged and reopened in 1910 then renovated 100 years later.

We always go to this Catholic Church when we are in Reno. It is very beautiful inside but seems to have gotten a little crowded with all of the statues they have now. Really enjoyed the Mass there.

Located in Downtown Reno. Walkable from the Riverwalk/Downtown area.
Beautiful city treasure.
A serene beautiful place in a otherwise busy, boisterous downtown.

We attended a Saturday morning mass. It was traditional and beautiful. The parishioners were friendly.

Impromptu visit. Very nice old style cathedral. Traditional service in downtown Reno within walking distance to all downtown casinos and hotels. Gorgeous doors. A must see.

A very inviting church. We go to Sunday mass everytime we are in Reno on a Sunday. Beautiful older church that is a cornerstone of the Reno community that together with other churches provide a great safety net for the less fortunate of Reno. I would even suggest a small donation from that big pile of winnings that you are heading home with as a sign of thanks!

We went for mass on Sunday and as it happened, the bishop presided. Wonderful experience. The church itself is intimate, not overwhelming, and rather new/young (compared to other cathedrals). Would certainly recommend a visit, especially if looking for good and welcoming place to go to mass.

I attended a good concert here as a part of a music series and enjoyed the lovely architecture. Most buildings in this city are very modern as it is a new city. This one has a history.
