Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

Blue Cave is a small sea cave on the island of Biševo. For a couple hours around midday, the sunlight illuminates the cave in a beautiful blue glow. We visited as part of the Blue Cave and Hvar Tour with Portal Tours from Split. From Split, we sailed directly to Biševo to arrive around 11 and visit the cave under... More

We sailed the wild see to Bisevo about 4 hours, and we got about 10 minutes out of the blue cave. In main season you have to land on buoy and small ships for eg. 20 persons take you to the cave for 70 HRK/person. Swimming or use your own small boat is forbidden. After they take back to your... This is one of the most sought out site attractions when going on an island tour in Croatia. You don't stay very long, and theres a system in and out with the boat company to allow you to see. They let you know why the cave is the colour it is and its really a peaceful and beautiful sight to... More

The long boat trip was SO worth the beauty of this exquisite natural phenomenon. Our guide was most helpful in that as we landed in peak season there were long queues and he had us queue early and receive a " waiting list" number - so that we could wait in the shade till our number was called. Take drinking... More

The Blue Cave is on the island of Bisevo. These trips are undependable as they do not go ahead if the tides are not right to enable a low boat to travel into the cave through a low access point. Therefore, you can't buy your tickets for the boat trip to the Blue Cave in advance. Whilst we were in... More

Visiting this cave was one of the top highlights of a very memorable trip to Hvar. Apparently this cave is often not able to be accessed because of wind and waves, because the opening to access it is incredibly tiny. Therefore, you can't buy your tickets into the cave in advance. Everyone has to duck in the small boats which... More

Worth seeing. Well organised but prepare to wait in line. Professional guides. Even if a bit expensive for a low budget worth visiting. Check the wheather first, no sun no effect, strong wind no entry

Having swam in Capri's Blue and Green Grottoes, I was a bit disappointed that a ten minutes cave boat ride is all that is offered and even being slightly off season, the green cave was very full of boats for a comfortable dip. Never-the-less - an amazing trip to get there. There must be a thousand companies across Dalmatia that... More

Cave Bisevo (the Blue Cave) is widely advertised as THE MUST SEE cave if you visit Croatia. So I think it's best I tell you a couple of things before you decide whether to visit it or not. First of all there is an entry fee, which is not included in any of the other island tours you may book... More
