The best hikes in the White Mountains are those that go above the treeline. I came up from Galehead Hut, but you could make a long day hike out of it. From the direction I came, there were about eight (very convincing) false summits, so...More

Great hike and a nice Blondie at Greenleaf Hut. Great views and company. After all the crazy rain surprising how good the trails were. Got your feet wet on Falling Waters river crossings and that was it.

Hiked up Mount Lafayette via the Old Bridle Path to the Greenleaf Hut (3.1 miles in 1hr 40min) then the Greenleaf Trail to Lafayette summit (1.1 miles). Both trails are in good conditions. All snowpack has melted. Terrific view from the top and above tree...More

Plan a full day. Keep an eye on the weather. This hike offers fantastic views and a challenge. Bring water, food, and extra layers. You get warm climbing up but then the top can be chilly. Very exposed on top. Will do again.

I have hiked the loop that includes Little Haystack, Lincoln, and Lafayette three times. It is absolutely gorgeous along the Franconia Ridge. You can also just hike directly up to Lafayette and back. Be sure to stop at the AMC Greenleaf Hut to get a...More

If you are in the area and have a whole day to spare, you cannot miss this trail. You have the option of doing the entire loop or go to Mount Lafayette only. For the entire loop, as stated before, a fit hiker can do...More
