New England Charm at it's Best.

A wonderfully picturesque common with often photographed church steeple. Just a beautiful centerpiece for a nice New Hampshire city.

Quintessential New England common. Where else would something that is round be called a square? Cute bandstand dedicated by President Carter's wife, Roslyn Carter, in the 70's and featured in Robin William's movie Jumanji. All viewed from the Stage Restaurant at the head of the square.

Just walking around the Central Square in Keene feels like a set of Our Town. From the steeple to the statuary, it's all a nice throw back to a pleasant time.

We happened upon Keene as a waypoint. I am sure glad that we did. There are multiple shops, restaurants, and small niche stores that you could easily spend an afternoon or evening perusing. I later saw in a guidebook that it may have the widest downtown main street in the U.S., which may be possible given the beautiful areas in... More

Perfect town for walking and Main Street is loaded with great places to shop and dine. Sidewalks are well maintained and you can walk all over safely. Plenty of beautiful flowers and a gazebo in the center. Benches to sit and relax in the Main Street. Ice cream and coffee shops and outside seating for many of the local restaurants.... More

Keene is a great little city to walk around and take in the sights. There are many shops and restaurants. The gazebo/bandstand area reminded us of places down south. The tree canopy and beautiful flowers made for a nice view as we sat on a nearby bench. We walked beyond the main square and into neighborhoods. It seemed very safe.... More

I've lived in Keene my entire life. Much has changed, but Central Square has been a strong constant. It changes its appearance through the four seasons. Right now the summer shows lovely flowers around the entire perimeter of the square. The fall brings the brilliance of the changing colors. The winter, with a fresh blanket of white is magical at... There is a very walkable downtown called Keene NH. Its enjoyable to do the circle ,from end to end. The town should erect some more signs directing shoppers to stores close to town but not on main street. It could be the downtown that malls desperately try to emulate (and fail). Visit soon.

Kodak photogenic town. Keene State College is located here, so as you would expect, it has a small college town feel to it. Comfortable to walk around the square and adjoining streets, with an ice cream from the Walpole Creamery, and just enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Have lunch or dinner here, as there is a nice array of restaurants and... More
