Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We recently visited the Horatio Colony Museum for it's holiday tour. The home was decorated for the holidays as it would have been during the victorian era. It was a real step back in time and so nice to see such an important part of Keene's history preserved for everyone to enjoy. Although the holiday tour only included the main floor, we enjoyed it, and look forward to visiting again when open for the season so we can tour the entire home. A must see if you're ever in Keene.

The Horatio Colony Museum is a private home that was left completely intact with all original furniture, collections of a variety of valuable object d'art, and many other items by the wealthy owner who came from the Colony family that owned the large textile mills in southern NH. The tour of the home is given by the director of the museum who is quite knowledgeable about all of the home objects and the life of the deceased owner. It is really worth a detour especially for anyone interested in antiques and hearing about the well traveled and interesting life of the deceased owner.

The museum was a wonderful historic home tour, but the best part was the one on one tour we got that the fantastic tour guide catered to my young children to keep them engaged. Would recommend for any age over 5.

I visited with a group of friends in July when there was a special exhibit: "Making a Statement: 1920's Fashion Through the Eyes of Mary Curtis." Sofia Thornblad, the Executive Director, gave us a thorough tour of the entire house which was both interesting and informative. On July 26, I returned for an evening program on the lawn, the Yankee Brass Band Concert, and enjoyed seeing and hearing 19c. period instruments and uniforms.

A trip to Keene, N.H. isn't complete without a visit to the Horatio Colony House Museum. Be sure to stop by for a tour or to enjoy some of the seasonal and cultural programming going on there, The Director is knowledgeable, energetic, personable, and a clearly loves what she's doing. You will learn something and the best part is that its all free!
