We decided to take the five hour trip to Crawford Notch but opted to not buy a meal, lunch, or snacks. The time to load seemed excessive and there must be a better plan. Even though we bought our tickets the day before, we were...More

Dinner on the Conway Scenic Railroad is a must do. The dining Car “Chocorua.” was built in 1929 and very nostalgic. It is beautiful during foliage season.

Thanks, Jennifer, for this rating and for your review. The First Class car on our Valley Trains is the Gertrude Emma, an 1898 Pullman Parlor Observation Car. As you write, its history is fascinating, and it's a beautifully crafted car with mahogany paneling, ceiling fans,...More

The first two weeks of October are usually reliably colorful, though foliage seems to be changing a little later in the month. Colors have been beautiful in mid-October for the last few years.

Been on both and though I've been on both I'd have to go with North Conway. BTW there's an Italian restaurant called Vito Marcelo right across the street. Definitely give it a try. You won't go wrong.
