Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just lovely and fragrant. Might have been nice to have a bench or two just to sit a while and take it all in. Apparently there are seasonal variations.

This was a super pretty area to explore right by the water, with plenty of benches and fountains, as well as a small outdoor performance space. The park is very well-maintained, which made it much more peaceful and welcoming. There are a lot of flowers, which added to the park's beauty.

Yes it was let’s go to the beaches and parks when it’s cold out side. I will say this park located on the waterfront was very peaceful and pretty- flowers had just started to pop open and I know we were just a couple of weeks too early but it still was so pretty.

Portsmouth has several nice areas to walk around in. The gardens in this park were so well-manicured and such a delight to explore.

Entering Prescott Park from Mechanic Street, I came to the area where all the main flower beds were in the Trial Gardens. They were a spectacular sight. There were hundreds and hundreds of gorgeous summer flowers at the height of their bloom on this late June day.

There were many other people walking around admiring the flowers and greenery filler in the gardens. One couple I spoke with were getting ideas for their own summer garden.

I thought that gardeners had outdone themselves this year with the number and variety of blooming and non-blooming plants.

In the area of the Black-Eyed Susans, there was a sign stating that the seed heads were purposely left for the birds to feed on during the winter.

The gardens held different varieties of dahlias, zinnias, salvia, and other lovely, colorful flowers ~ some of whose names I wasn’t quite sure of. Some may have been experimental hybrids.

I was surprised that I didn’t encounter so much as one butterfly during this visit. I usually see and get to photograph at least one, if not two.

Visiting the gardens at Prescott Park is always a delight. The flowers are always just so gorgeous in the spring, summer, and fall.

I rate my experience at this year’s summer Trial Gardens at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit to all the sections of Prescott Park ~ from the North Pier area near the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Bridge to the Trial Gardens near Mechanic Street.

The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews and some health issues.

This is a beautiful park, however it is not pet/dog friendly. Not all of the park entrances have signage that indicate this- so beware. I do not understand how the city is OK with allowing Canadian geese fouling up the park and the water, but behaved, leashed dogs are not.

Word of advice… do not go to any shows at Prescott Park Arts Festival. I never write posts negative or positive. I’ve sponsored this 501c3 for years through a company. Fought for dollars for them. Went tonight and was told i wasn’t allowed to stand up. They asked me to go behind a barrier basically with no view of the stage behind concrete. After i waited a half hour for rain to pass, donated to get in and the park was not full. So unfortunate this has become a president here. No bands will come to play here. Zero vibe!!!! I really loved this summer series of music but i refuse to be told i can’t stand for a band that is based on crowd vibe. Sad state of affairs. Unless you are ninety and can’t stand you should not support this festival.

Prescott Park was in full summer bloom when we went in early August. The flowers and landscaping were beautiful. We also saw two different Canadian geese "families" wandering around, and I took a photo of the one that had several goslings.

This is a nice waterfront park with gardens and other facilities. We saw a concert there and the sound system was very good. There is also a food stand and clean public restrooms.
