Huge summer property turned over to the county for an arboretum. Grounds are very well maintained and one can picture drinks at the tennis court back in the day. Gardens had brooks and ponds with plenty of flowers. Cottage built over brooks and toy house on grounds.

Bamboo Brook is registered on both the National and State Register of Historic Places since 1989. The structures and gardens are not only historic but are an horticultural and architectural delight. If you are into the history of landscape architecture and want to see an example of designs by a largely forgotten pioneer - Martha Brookes Hutcheson - this is a great place. The site is organized on sloping ground around a series of ponds and connecting watercourses. It makes a nice pairing with the Willowwood arboretum just down the road.... More

This garden and surrounding farm was owned by Martha Brookes Hutcheson, a MIT graduate and author who studied and wrote about Landscape Architecture, with her husband. It is now on the State and National Registers of Historical Places lists.

The Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center is made up of 100 acres of fields, forests, trails, various structures, and is located just down the road from the Willowwood Arboretum.
