Beautifal place, Nasty Staff
Oct 2020
The Garden is gorgeous,

I came this morning with my sister. A staff member with short blonde hair is very patronizing. While i don't want to play race, but her approach felt a little prejudice. The way she spoke to us was condescending. I stood on the rocks for pictures, unaware I wasn't allowed to do that.

She approached us pretty hostile, stating " you cant stand on the rocks" gesturing me to come down. I definitely understood and said sorry.

She goes " I don't know if you've been to a botanical Garden before, but you cant do that." all with a smirk and a nasty tone.

I told her sorry, that i didn't know because i really didn't know i couldn't stand on rocks.

She explained that they build everything there, I told her i thought it was natural, she said no.

I think she caught on that she was being rude about it and stated that she had to "say it firmly."

she kept rolling her eyes and didn't even have her mask when she approached us.
this kind of just ruined the mood the remaining time we were there. We'll maybe go back, but if everybody is that rude, i doubt ill feel comfortable.

An easy "hello, i know you're enjoying the scenery, but we prohibit anyone from standing the rocks for your safety and for the protection of the garden."

Not "i don't know if you've ever been to a botanical garden before, but..."

it was just condescending and unprofessional. And in times like this her approach was definitely tone-deaf.

Small garden. Friendly staff.

This was a very nice, pleasant walk. I'd highly recommend if if you are already in the area but I wouldn't go too far out of your way to get here. Due to covid19 you'll be limited to a one hour visit. You should only need about 20 minutes to walk around the place but there are benches so you can definitely stay and enjoy the place for longer.

Short Pleasant Walk Through Garden
Sep 2020
This is a very pleasant place to take a short walk along trails. Due to covid19 capacity was limited to 50 people, trails were one way and a one hour visit was allowed. Although it was very pleasant it wasn't worth the the 45 minutes it took to get there. We were finished in 30 minutes. I would go back if I lived nearby.

LJB Garden during Covid-19
Aug 2020
LJB Garden is a beautiful garden that’s following Covid-19 procedures by requiring masks, social distancing, and making the trails one way. My wife and I enjoyed our walk today through the garden, the fresh air, and seeing the wide variety of plant life and trees found on the property. This is the perfect garden to visit during the different seasons of the year.

Patronizing Staff
Jul 2020
The garden itself is charming, UNLIKE its staff members. I was extremely disappointed by the individuals that work here. Do not come here unless you also want to feel patronized on your 5 year anniversary date.

My fiancé surprised me in the parking lot with a small gift that had a single balloon attached to it. Not yet even inside the garden, an individual (who appeared to be the manager) approached us, and questioned our intentions with the balloon. I explained that it was our anniversary, and that I can leave the balloon inside the car if it is not allowed. She then proceeded to comment that the garden will be closing soon, even though it was only 2 PM, and they close at 4 PM. It is also important to note, that other families and couples were still entering the garden while she was telling us this, and they were not stopped or informed about the time.

We made sure to leave the garden by 3:45PM and walked to our separate cars. While I was looking up the next address I was going to, another staff member knocked on my car window, and said “I don’t know if you’re aware. But in the state of New Jersey, you can get fined for having your car idle for more than 3 minutes.” I quickly apologized, looked at the time, and noticed it was exactly 3:49PM when she knocked. I drove out of the parking lot, and found another place to park to quickly search for the address I needed to go to.

My overall experience was not a pleasant one. The staff here is extremely supercilious, arrogant, and condescending. If it was not for them, I would have enjoyed my time.

Please educate your staff to meet the high standards that should be of this beautiful garden. Thank you.

A hidden jewel

This is an amazing garden. Be prepared to spend an hour or two for a causal walk. The gardens are impeccably kept, with labeled specimens. All season appeal. Very friendly and helpful staff. Donations are appreciated. Excellent map. Highly recommend.

A 29-acre garden packed with many varieties of plants
May 2019 • Couples
Right next to the 287 highway, offers beauty and tranquility in this garden that has enough varieties of landscape, including a stream, a pond, some bridges, and some well hidden trails to make it a worthwhile place to seek tranquility and recharge. Many different plants, flowers, and trees are identified with well made plates. Only downside is the noise from the nearby highway, but treat it as white noise.

Splendid gardens
May 2019 • Friends
We wanted to move here to the reception building and just stay forever. It preserves many native species but also has folded in a few non-natives and all are thriving side by side. The landscaping is spectacular with hills and sweeping lawns, rock faces, bogs and waterfalls, yielding places for plants that thrive in many types of habitats. It is welcoming to everyone but wheelchair access is limited. A group of nine was easily accommodated.
