We asked some local people what we shouldn't miss while visiting this area and they highly recommended Buttermilk Falls. We went there after a dry spell and the unpaved dirt road was so bumpy and filled with large, deep holes, that we almost turned back....More

DO NOT GO UNLESS YOU DRIVE AN AWD/4WD VEHICLE WITH CLEARANCE! HORRIBLE DEEP POTHOLES ON MOUNTAIN ROAD (BOTH SIDES)! Shocking that the park service has let the road deteriorate to such a DANGEROUS CONDITION! Who is running this place?! It would be easy to fill...More

This is a very lovely waterfall and well worth the visit. The stairs to the two upper viewing spots are steep but worth the effort. I was visiting from out of down and did not have hiking shoes but I wish I had. I tried...More

Buttermilk Falls has been on my radar since I found out about it a year or so ago. Talking with some friends recently that went, they suggested going in the Spring or Fall. Finally got a chance to go. I went 8/6/17. It was a...More

Not at the falls, but very nearby in Stokes State Forest. Where the falls are, there is only a small parking lot and hiking trails.

We were there in late March .The road from the Wallace Center entrance would have been drivable if it was open. It was gated at the time we were there.
