Located in Newark's downtown cultural district, The New Jersey Historical Society is a statewide, nonprofit museum, library, and archives. We collect, preserve and interprete New Jersey's rich and intricate history to the broadest possible audience. The Historical Society houses one of the largest collections of New Jersey-related materials in the world. Museum Hours: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm -- Tuesday - Saturday Library Hours: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm --Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday

Although the Historical Society is currently mounting some interesting exhibitions, the place is boring. They need to make more interaction with the visitor. The Louis Bamberger exhibition would have been more interesting if they had concentrated on the history of the store not on him...More

This is a great old museum that is interesting and nicely done. It I s professionally done with changing exhibits. I really recommend visiting and enjoying. It needs more visitors so that its has more revenue to do more. But this is worth the visit....More

Its very small and doesnt really have much.I think the Newark Museum is a better option if you are looking for things to see.
