I'm happy to say that since my last review that the park is now an official National Historic Park! There is a park ranger and a small visitors center. The park has been spiffed up. New paths, observation area and benches. The area around the park is questionable, but the park feels safe. There are now people there specifically to... More

Who would have imagined that a falls such as this would be smack dab in the middle of the city of Paterson. Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t the most scenic area, again you’re in the city, but it’s definitely an attraction to go see. It looks as though they are in the process of trying to make it... I am from out of town, so I didn't realize how rough the neighborhoods are around this park, first of all. But I am from Chicago, so I've seen some rough neighborhoods; still wouldn't be in this area or driving to or from after dark. And the park itself is pretty gritty--I feel like I read somewhere that it hasn't... More

This past weekend I attended this small Native American Festival at the Great Falls Historical Park. The park is in the city of Paterson and has undergone some nice upgrades over the past few years. The visitor center has a good Lenape/Sandhill Indian exhibit and the falls are an unexpected treasure in the midst of a gritty urban city. The... More

Perhaps it is the wrong time of year. Didn't see much falling water. One part looked like somebody left a fire hose on at the top of the cliff. Don't get your hopes up, at least not in November.

There is a lot can be done in this area, they need to remove the rocks from the top of the river. Also there are some ideas can be applied like adding nights lights, boats ... etc. Moreover, the area needs a better parking to encourage people to visit the park.

After years of neglect the area is being cleaned up. There is a small visitor center. The guide was extremely interesting and knowledgeable . The beauty of the falls can depend on the amount of rain or snow. It was breathtaking last winter after a snow-fall.

Interesting and better than expected... The surrounding area has a lot of industrial history. Cool to see a waterfall so close to New York City! Lots to do nearby too!

at least twice a year for over 20 years. These falls always inspire me, and people are putting money and real effort into making the history of the area come alive in meaningful ways. For me, the falls are the most inspiring -- I can watch them from several vantage points for hours. Some people feel very uneasy here, but... More
