Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the earliest buildings in the country, and renovated many times, it's classical simplicity is as fresh and cheerful today as it was when it was new. Although the details and some proportions are not strictly in accordance with Vitruvian principles, the lovely facade has an easy elegance and a modesty that welcomes any passerby.

This little yellow house is right off Nassau Street, looking like a friendly colonial cottage -- which is exactly what it is. The front room has university memorabilia, you can imagine men in knickers and women with hoop skirts sipping tea there. Offices are up the creaky old stairs. A step into another era.

This historic house has been well preserved to have a feeling from the 18th century. Right now, there is an exhibit out front to commemorate the recently discovered sale of slaves on the front lawn --dating from th time of the death of the 5th Princeton president. On the law are giant sycamore trees that date back over 200 years.

This historic building, also known at the President's House, dates from 1756. It is currently the home of the Alumni Association. It is a National Historic Landmark (1971).

It certainly doesn't look 200+ years old.

This is a Princeton University facility, housing their Alumni Affairs office, so not usually open to visitors. That being said, if one is polite, one may request access during weekdays (Friday's are best) or during busy Alumni weekends (Saturday's) if willing to concentrate on lower levels. Depending on whom you ask and when, a "No" may be the answer.

This is an ancient building and has been mostly maintained, preserved and occasionally gently updated (plumbing, heating, ADA-access, etc.) over the years. Nice garden in the little courtyard on the side away from Nassau St.

I am not sure if it is architecturally significant, but when Princeton University (it was originally called College of New Jersey) was principally Nassau Hall, this is where the President of the College and his family lived.

Maclean House was built at about the same time as Nassau Hall, next to which it stands. It served as the residence of the college's presidents for a time and is currently the center for alumni affairs. The house was recently renovated and carefully restored with period furniture. Of special interest are two large sycamore trees which stand on the front lawn -- called the "Stamp Act Trees" because they were apparently planted in the 1760s apparently to commemorate the repeal of the hated Stamp Act imposed by the British on the colonies. The building contains lots of Princeton memorabilia, including famous portraits of James Madison and Jonathan Edwards and his wife.
