The Delaware and Raritan canal, which was hand dug in the 19th century, connects the Delaware River with the Raritan River. Until the early 20th century mules towed freight barges along the canal. After better highways enabled trucks to more efficiently replace the barges, the...More

A very enjoyable trail walk. The only sounds you will hear are the occassional speeder on canal road. I've walked it and canoed it and I have to say besides providing drinking water for several towns this park is a great place to appreciate nature...More

As a runner, I love to run by the canal. The trails are well kept and the scenery is beautiful. There are plenty of other people around - feels safe.

The whole length of the Canal which runs from New Brunswick to Trenton is a State Park. The towpath is the route that the mules used to take that towed the barges. Much like the Erie canal. You can see one of the remaining locks...More

I love the canal so glad it's preserved. Only problem is they don't maintenance it well. Big holes that makes biking a problem in dry weather and horrible after rain. Wish there was some money for the fixes

This is a pleasant place to walk. It is easy, flat with nice scenery and not crowded. It is easy to drive and park close by.

Perfect place to bike, run, walk or fish or maybe just sit and enjoy the beautiful environment. The path is perfectly situated between Carnegie Lake (see photo) and the Canal (photo).

if weather permits, everyone visiting Princeton should walk, jog or just go and admire the view of the lake, the sounds of the many birds that you will encounter and the smell of pure fresh air.

Tranquil. I love this place in the autumn when the leaves are full of color and the weather is not as humid. Spring is good also. Summer it has lots of mosquitoes, so wear repentant.
