I first learned to surf with Andrew in 2020 & went back in 2021 for more intermediate lessons. I went from knowing nothing about surfing to being able to catch and ride fairly big waves. Andrew is an excellent coach and a fun and kind person, who is always cheering you on in the waves. He is reassuring and helps you navigate any situation in the water. He has years of experience so a real privilege to learn from his knowledge about surfing, the waves and the weather. He knows almost everyone in Jeffreys Bay and can share the most interesting stories about the town. Tons of fun and laughs to be had with Wavecrest Surf School! Highly recommended!

Me and my girlfriend took the 7 day package where we got lessons and could use to the boards also after class. This school is right at the beach with all passionate instructors that really wanted us to have the best surfing experience. We could easily choose and try any board based on the waves right in front of the school. Wavecrest opened already at 0730 am so we had the waves for ourselves hours ahead of other schools. The staff is family now!!!

I dare to say: this is the best surf school in the world.
Perfect vibe. Friendliest teacher. All the equipment you need. Keeping you safe at all times. Improving your surf skills.
I have done my first surfing lesson here and then surfed half a year while coming back from time to time - I always improved immensely when I took lessons. At all surfing levels this is the right school.
Try it out and have fun surfing! Fun is guaranteed here :)

I just finished a 5 day lesson pack with Andrew and to say I am pleased with the experience I had with him just wouldn’t do it justice. Without a doubt the best surf school in J Bay and worth every cent paid!
As soon as you meet Andrew you immediately feel as though you’re in the right place to learn, he teaches with a calm and enthusiastic approach, encouraging you all the way along.

For a beginner like me this was perfect with lots of detailed explanation, then lots of practice in the water with the most encouraging and very attentive instructors. I felt safe and was taken very well care of throughout the whole lessons, good equipment as well.
Most important, it was soooo much fun, I will be back!

Since this was our first surf lesson ever, my partner and I decided to book a private lesson instead of a group lesson. Our instructor Dylan was patient with us, he was able to see the mistakes we were making and gave us tips on correcting them. The two hour lesson was the perfect amount of time. Thank you Dylan for sharing your skills and knowledge about the Jbay currents with us!

First of all, me and my girlfriend didn't take surfing lessons at Wavecrest, we rented wetsuits and boards here. The building is located right at the beach so you can walk to the water with just your wetsuit and board, you can leave the rest of your stuff at their place. Before we went to try and grab some waves, we asked for some advice as we took only two lessons until that point and we were glad that we got some usefull tips. Price for renting a wetsuit and board for half a day is R150, if you want to rent it for a full day the price is R200. We were there January 15 so prices might have been a bit higher during this time as it was during the high season.
Would recommend this place for renting gear. Don't know about lessons as we didn't take any.

Andrew was patient, encouraging, and had helpful tips throughout. Although a one day lesson was fun, I would encourage you to book a few days with Andrew if you can manage the time. Great experience, highly recommend.

I did a 3 day beginner course which was amazing. Andrew has all the patience in the world and the best stories while waiting for the waves. I felt 100% safe and learned more than I would have ever imagined!
