Tractor led picnicking

Beautiful wine farm just outside Franshoek. Taste outside under the trees and there is a great deli with well priced goodies and yummies. Go down with the tractor to the delta... read more

A nice idea with the workers enjoying a share of the profits and reinvestment. Even though this is an old estate the concept for the future is encouraf=ging but there still lacks some attention to details and refinments.

This estate is very impressive when you enter and has been extensively developed and the lady presenting the wines was very good at explaining each variety before pouring it. Having said that, I felt the estate was more impressive than the wines themselves and as such I wouldn't rush to buy any of those I tasted if I saw them... More

Beautiful wine farm just outside Franshoek. Taste outside under the trees and there is a great deli with well priced goodies and yummies. Go down with the tractor to the delta and have a picnic on the lawns under the trees. One can walk around or ride bikes. Great place to take some friends that is well priced for the... More

I was so excited for the wine tasting but my group went to experience the museum first, and I'm glad we did. This museum tour was one of the most rewarding parts of my time in Cape Town. Not only did our tour guide, Mercia, deliver the chilling horrors of what occurred on this land but she also gave us... More

Our last stop of the day on the purple tour of the wine tram. Didn't get a great welcome but assumed that was because it was the end of a long hot day for the staff plus we were the only ones to disembark. The wine was good though the tasting a bit rushed but it didn't matter too much... More

This small museum sits in the Solms Delta winery farm. It covers the history of mankind in the area from early stone age through first farmers then European colonisation and slavery and finally, apartheid and its defeat. There are some artefact cabinets to match a small number of information boards. It's not big or spectacular but well worth 30 minutes... More

We called in, not sure what to expect. In fact its quite hard to find out. A little guide/map at the entrance would be helpful. We went to the museum ( next to restaurant) which was really interesting. This is a serious effort to understand the social history of this farm which, of course, related to the history of South Africa.... More

We visited Solms-Delta at the end of our Franschhoek Wine Tram tour. We had been to five other wine farms that day and had been mostly very impressed. Solms-Delta spoilt our day. The music in the tasting room was oppressively loud and the service was awful; rather than explaining the wine being served, the older lady simply dropped the neck... More
