This Pass is another stunning example of the engineering brilliance of the South African people. From Franschhoek it opens the way to Hermanus, the Eastern Cape and beyond. Plan time, do not rush, there are view points to enjoy, and if you are stuck behind slow transport, relax, I love it, stay back and enjoy the beautiful views. Watch out... More

If you can ride to the top of here you're doing well, its steep winding road takes your through perfect Baboon territory. At the top you'll be impressed with stunning views of some of S.Africa's best vineyards. It's worth a trip up at night too to see Franschhoek lit up.

A lovely drive up and down some of the most stunning scenery in the area - being at the end (or start!) f the closeby Franschhoek doesn't harm either as it make a great end to a holiday and a great entrance to the beautiful area of Franschhoek!

Great drive into or out of the Franschoek valley. Great views of the typical S.African scrub (fynbos) on the Grabouw side of the pass as well as driving past the huge Theewaterskloof lake. The drop from the top of the pass down into the 'French Corner' is fantastic, great views all the way down the hill.

An amazing trip through the majestic mountains beyond Franschhoek - winter or summer. It never fails to amaze me to think that the original settlers of the valley arrived there by ox wagon & on horse back. The road leads past the Theewaters Kloof Dam & one can continue on to the N2 & back to Cape Town via the... More

This really is a beautiful drive through winding roads and mountains. Look out for the baboons. Be aware it could be dangerous so do not speed.

We traversed this pass three times and, so long as all drivers are careful and considerate, every experience is worthwhile. the views of Franschhoek are magnificent and the countryside on the other side is spectacular.

A lovely drive with stunning views of the mountains and Franschoek Valley. A must do for tourists and locals alike. Allow time for a meal at La Petite Ferme but book beforehand.
