Agriculture and a simple farm lifestyle is at the heart of Boschendal. One of the oldest farms in South Africa, founded 1685, the farm has grown with the passing centuries into a cherished source of wholesome produce, great wines and happy memories.

Set in the Drakenstein Valley surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, lush gardens and vines, the original farmstead complex is now a national monument with a rich and intriguing history of more than 300 years.

Today, Boschendal is a Cape winelands icon and a cherished wine and food destination. Our vineyards and fruit trees have been joined by vegetable gardens and a growing herd of free range, 100% pasture fed Angus cattle reflecting our commitment to serving wholesome farm-to-table food.

Guest accommodation is also a recent addition to the farm with luxurious cottage accommodation ranging from the exclusive and historic Rhodes Cottage built by Sir Herbert Baker to the elegantly restored Werf Cottages.

Cottage guests enjoy access to the entire farm where they can walk and cycle on trails through mountain fynbos, dine under the stars, have picnics and sundowners in exclusive areas, fly-fish in the dams and swim in pristine mountain water.

Pic Nic was excellent but the customer service appalling! We had to ask what we had to do, "sit down anywhere and someone will come to you" we waited 20 minutes with plenty of staff walking past and standing around! Eventually after finding the manager a sullen waitress slapped a photocopied wine list on the table...so what happens now we... More

I booked a picnic for two in the Rhone picnic area. This was my first visit to Boschendal and I have to say the setting was stunning. The day was exceptionally hot so having the tables in the shade was a blessing. The food was scrumptious and surprisingly more than we could consume. The menu changes regularly but I can... More

If you don't do anything else in the Wine Regions, do this. We booked a Picnic at the Rhone side of the Winery, when we got there, it wasn't as I expected and we asked to go to the Werf side, which was no problem. I personally just preferred the relaxed vibe of the Werf side, as the Rhone side... More

Had the most amazing service and meal in the restaurant. Highly recommended. A special touch were the nibbles at the beginning and end

Sitting under shady trees on a hot day, a picnic basket full of goodies and a cold Savanna Dry (it´s been the fourth and last winery we´ve visited with the Vine Hopper that day - so it was time to drink something else) - life could be so easy... Beautyful location, very good food and very friendly staff - that´s... More

Such a beautiful day to visit the South African wine country. The Boschendal Manor & Winery, is in such a gorgeous location, and the wine's were fantastic. I loved visiting here, and will definitely come again. This is a don't miss, if you have a day to explore the wine region.

Definitely recommend it. Baskets are great value for money. Disappointed that non of the baskets were stocked correctly, and took some time to sort out. But enjoyed over all.

Lovely destination indeed and not overcrowded offering that much needed relaxed atmosphere away from the hype of all trending venues. Superb ambiance around the outdoor entertainment venue for performing artist ideal for a picnic, hammocks and bean bags set the tone for the afternoon. The alternatives provided on this estate include a lovely little bistro with a lovely menu and... More

We went for a vineyard tour and learned about the methods to grow different grapes, like Chenin Blamc at a 45 degree angle. We learned the BMW is more fruit trees than grape growing on the winery and that more consider the selection a farm with fruit trees, grapes, cows, tourism, and.... our tour also included a glass of bubbly.... Our hotel booked us a picnic spot at Boschendal and we were not disappointed! The food was fresh and the wine delicious. The only thing that could have been improved was the table service e.g. our young waiter placed the picnic basket in a very awkward spot on the table and no water was offered.
