Wow, what an adventure and beautiful country. Touring through small towns, jungle, along the coast and in to the Bromo crater. Motor was solid and reliable. One trip to remember.

I was a bit nervous renting and travelling for a month but the guys took great care of me. Super staff. Got a new bike with their normal add-ons, bag rack with straps and phone holder. If I had any questions I just whatsapp'd them and they would get back to me promptly. Went to East Java which was a big NO from other rentals but they just added a few extra dollars (hardly anything) on those days and that was it.
Everything went smoothly, never had any issues. Would highly recommend and will use them again.

This place is one of the only ones offering so many different bikes and specially dirt bikes exactly what I was looking for. The Crf 150 were in pretty good shape and anytime I had any inconvenience the mechanics and staff were pretty efficient and attentive. The whole trip were a plus great with this bike and they even have surf racks for surf boards ( I took 3 and manage ) to drive around Bali and explore other islands.
Thank you guys

We *my girlfriend and I traveling April 2023* had a wonderful experience with Motor Adventure Bali. We rented a Honda ADV 150, intending to island hop from Java to Flores. Our plans changed several times, and we ended up doing a combination of flying, driving, and boats. MAB stuck with us each step of the way, moving quickly, being available, and accommodating our often last minute and inconvenient requests, even during Ramadan holiday. When we had one user-error bike issue, they got a mechanic out immediately to help us in the field, nowhere near their office. Our bike(s) were wonderful, well set up, and well maintained. We highly recommend MAB and will use them again. This is a great service with special 1-way opportunity and flexibility. A++

I rented a bike oneway from Labuan to Maumere. Everything was good organised, friendly staff, good contact and the bike was good maintained. I would recommend renting at this company!

We did the 4 day Blue Fire - Volcano Ijen tour in Oct 2022. It was so great to go with Holger who knows so many of the roads and tracks around Bali and East Java. He made sure every Km was safe, fun and an absolute feast for the eyes. We saw so many things you just wouldn't see on any other tour. We would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

Overall, I had a great trip and everything went smoothly but the pickup was kind of painful so I definitely cannot put 5 stars here. I hope my feedback will help travelers and the company to make things smoother in the future.
=== Planning ===
After a good amount of research, I decided to rent a CRF150L for 11 days from Labuan Bajo to make a loop until Moni via Ruteng, Riung on the north side and End, Bajawa, Wae Rebo on the south side. I was aware road conditions outside the main highways could be very bad, especially the last south section from Borong to Wae Rebo and back to Labuan Bajo highway. This was at the end of the dry season so I expected some sandy/slippery conditions this is why I went for an off-road bike like CRF150L and I informed the company about my itinerary.
=== Online Reservation: 5/5 ===
The process was smooth, I was able to adjust dates, paid the deposit via PayPal, and received an email confirmation.
=== Questions/Answers Support: 5/5 ===
Before my arrival, staff a Labuan Bajo was very responsive to questions I had about phone mounts, ATMs…
One thing I didn’t ask but you should is about the tires conditions (see below)
=== Pickup 2/5 ===
Upon my arrival after exiting airport, first of all, I was asked to show the confirmation of the deposit payment which the head company didn’t apparently communicate with the Labuan Bajo office. Kind of annoying because I didn’t have a sim card and the office had no wifi but I asked them to share their hotspot to look for the email.
Second, the bike was ready and looked great except for the back tire which had almost no rubber left on the central knobs. It was so low/bad that you could see the inner rubber below the knobs had a different color over a width of 2 inches.
It could have worked if I was only riding on the asphalt but I already told them when I booked that I was going to Wae Rebo, so this was not acceptable to me and I asked for a new change of tires. It would be too risky to go off-road and I might hurt myself.
At first, I was told there is a policy that tires cannot be changed until there is 2 mm left of knobbles and that is the "international standard"
Measurements were done on the back of specific knobs (the part not in direct contact with the road), while I could see many other knobs with even less rubber left.
Since I was not satisfied with that answer, I asked them to contact their head office and figure something out. Because they were apparently not reachable, I asked them to provide me with a scooter so I could go get a sim card and lunch in town.
During my lunch, I was able to talk to someone at the head office, who told me again about the 2mm standard and that if I want new tires I will have to pay myself and wait one more day when the mechanic shop reopens…
When I went back to the office, I was told again the same thing and was about to take off unhappily with the bike when the head office called me back and tell me that they changed their mind and offered to change the tire free of charge and that the mechanic shop close in 45 minutes.
So we rushed to the Honda center outside of town to get the tire changed, and at 4 pm, sweaty and exhausted I could finally start my trip.
I realized we never did any official bike inspection, nor I saw any documents about the extra insurance I paid for but at this point, I didn’t care anymore.
==== Bike Condition: 5/5 ====
During the trip, I had no problems with the bike. Breaks, suspension, and the engine worked great. I was really glad to have a new back tire because while most roads were really good, I did run into very slippery conditions including sand, mud, and rocky river crossing.
==== Drop-off: 5/5 ====
Drop-off was very smooth and only took a few minutes. Talked about places and experiences I had. No signature again but was told I would receive the refund on the deposit after 10 working days
==== Refund: 5/5 ====
When I returned home a week after, I was surprised to see I already received the full deposit. I thanked the team and share photos and videos they could use as material.
==== Conclusion ====
I had a great trip, and if the back tires had a few more mms left, it would have been a 5/5 from me.
Since daily rates are higher on Flores due to poorer road conditions, I expected that tires would be changed more often to prevent potential injuries/accidents.
If you are adventurous and plan to go off-road outside the main attractions, get a CRF but inquire about the tire condition and policy.
Otherwise, consider a scooter for your trip but be very careful. I met another traveler who had a bad fall on a sandy curve.

I did the Bali to Flores trip with two mates in September/October 2022. An amazing trip as described in the website.
Everything from Motor Adventure Bali was delivered really well right from the outset of contact with Chris, he ensures our questions were answered promptly and really assisted in every way possible in the pre-arrival process, this extended to the, bikes, support vehicle, transfers at both ends were well provided or assisted and our guide Holga was informative, helpful and most tolerant of our Australian humor, or lack of it!
All the accommodation was great, albeit the occasional hiccup NOT due to poor planning just the vagaries of being in a remote place with language challenges, all part of the fun.
The bikes were well maintained, good tires etc, the roads were excellent with occasional challenges, the food was excellent and the pace was consistent as was the scenery and its changing nature as you travel across the islands.
All the people we met were lovely and welcoming.
I would highly recommend Motor Adventure Bali for trips in Indonesia.

Hi Chris,
your Australian Licence is sufficient for us.
Just in case of Police control, they would like to see an International License.

Singapore license is internationally recognized as an international license so do i still need to convert it again in bali?
Chris Braun

For Indonesia is an International Driving licence essential.
If you get a control by Police, they like to see the "grey book".
Means the international driving licence.

Hi, do you need a licence to ride bikes? Thanks! Laura
Chris Braun
Bali, Indonesia
Generally you need a international driving license in indonesia.
You can get them in your home country from your responsible driving licence office.
This licence is 3 years valid and you can use it in a lot of countries.
Otherwise we can assist you to get an official local indonesian driving licence, valid for four weeks. (renewable)
To rent a scooter is the standard license sufficient. For Motorcycles 250cc and bigger you need the licence class A.
