Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The fruit market in Berastagi is very interesting and colorful. There are many stalls selling fruits and vegetables. The people are very friendly. It's very enjoyable to stroll around, take photos, have a juice, and more. Highly recommended!

Don’t miss the Berastagi fruit market. I highly recommend the ‘Sala’ or ‘snake fruit’.

A kilo of fruit should cost about 20k rupiah.

Well my wife bought a kilo of each -- mango, orange, snakefruit, wax apple and the price was very cheap despite reports of people being overcharged. Lots of vegetables for sale too. We asked the price and each time we got a little discount.

If you want to try local fresh fruit, vegetables you can come to this market. Beside it, they also sell souvernir which you can bring home. You can enjoy horse riding too. Eating warm corn in the cool weather also will be a great choice.

Interesting market with huge variety of fruit on offer and we enjoyed our short visit there. Prices were a bit steep - with different prices for locals and tourists - so need to barter!

Was there on friday afternoon, quiet with no visitors at all. Rode the horse around the market for 5 sgd, quite an experience.
The market itself is ok, fruit sellers are very warm and friendly. Some can even speak chinese. Fruits are good and fresh and reasonably priced.
Ended up buying more than planned.

A place to source for fresh fruits but the price is steep.
We tried bargaining but to no avail. The mangosteen were big and juicy but the seller forbid us to choose the fruits ourselves hence some fruits are not in good condition!!

Come to have a look.

Though the market is small, it’s is clean and well organized. All the fruits of Medan would be here. We are lucky as it’s season for rambutans, durians, orange....

We sat down for some local coffee and snacks. Even though it’s close to mid day, the weather was still cool at around 25c.

Plenty of local fruits for souvenir or self-consumption.

It's very near our hotel and located near the main Berastagi Roundabout.

Price was fixed, but it is okay to bargain and they are more than willing to reduce their price.

I walked for about 30mins from my hotel to the market. Lots of local fruits especially oranges and passion fruit, but not really cheap. This is a favourite stop for tourists and you can also buy souvenirs, have a simple meal or snack on BBQ corn (maize). Outside the market, you can see quite a number of tourist buses and there is even horse riding activity where you pay a fee.
