We seven people visited this place before checking into our hotel Meri Puensum Punakha on 12th December. Standing regally on the hill above the Punakha valley, Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten is a classic example of gorgeous traditions and architecture of Bhutan. This chorten, however, is...More

I was very pleasantly surprised with our visit to this temple. It starts with a lovely walk through the fields which was a great way to see local agricultural practice. This was followed by a hike uphill through some forest, coming out at the very...More

You begin the hike by strolling through the paddy fields and then you reach the prayer wheel, this is where the real hike begins. It's a steady hike uphill and if you are not physically fit you can still do it at a slower pace....More

Easy trek up and down the hill will take approx 1.5 hrs. You will find locals selling fresh guavas from the farms on the way. The architecture of the chorten is magnificent and the view from the top is absolutely stunning. Definitely recommended..

Impressive shrine built by the queen in 1999. The shrine is perched high on a hill overlooking the beautiful Punakha river valley. Beautiful shrine grounds and interior with the opportunity to ascend two floors for the exterior view from the shrine's rooftop.

To get here involves a nice hike across rice paddies and up a steepish slope (you only climb 180 metres though). Once there, the only recently built chorten is magnificent, sitting as it does in well manicured grounds. Inside there are several floors to explore,...More

The temple is situated (as many are!) at the top of a really large hill. We really enjoyed the hike up starting off through small villages and paddy fields then up the steep hill. The temple at the top is very beautiful inside and the...More
