It’s a wonderful place to roam in. But beware if you use google or Apple map to get you from Santa Fe or Albuquerque. It will take you to the Far East end of the badlands on a gravel/dirt road for 14 miles off of...More

This is one of those surreal places that leaves indelible memories years later. The area is entirely without tracks. We were there in June and walking across the area, looking back we couldn't see any evidence of our passage.... no tracks, no disturbed dirt. For...More

We backpacked for a couple of days and were blown away at all of the crazy rock formations. Be sure to do your research and plan accordingly as there are no actual trails out there. You roam in any direction you want. Finding maps online...More

The drive out here from Farmington was part of the journey. It's a short dirt road to the parking site. When I was here I was the only one and it felt like I was on a deserted planet. Around every corner there were different...More

This stop turned out to be one of our favorites. However, go in prepared. We stopped at the Visitors Information Center in Farmington and they gave us a map of the area with GPS coordinates to all of the points of interest. To see the...More

Though there is no set or marked trail and the rocky road off the main road is very rough, this was well worth it. Super unusual rock formations make for fun exploration. Use the sun or a compass to find your way back to the...More

Thoroughly enjoyed the hike. Wonderfully, breathtaking view from every direction and surprising formations around every corner. Must strongly advise you bring a GPS or it will be easy, very easy, to get lost!!! There is a long, very long in our opinion, but easy hike...More

You may also try searching for a photography tour. My trip was part of one but they only do 1 or 2 tours a year there.
