Wish I had called ranger station! The road was flooded and after a 4 hour drive I had to turn back! : (

The part of the trail that was open was nice. I wish that the rest of the trail had been fixed so that I could have seen where my husband used to hike as a child.

The Catwalk provides an exceptional view of an amazing canyon. During winter and spring you might want to stop by or call the Glenwood Ranger station to see if the road is passable. Sometimes the river floods and cannot be forded.

Easy hike along the canyon walls. A must see and an interesting history lesson about early mining. Early morning in the warmer months.

Wheel chair accessable walk now open. Easy stroll from the parking area into the canyon. This is worth the drive from whereever you are.

We were there in July and it was our first time. We absolutely loved it. This time we were there and brought some friends with us. The bugs were thick. Didn't spoil it, but it made it hard to enjoy. We definitely will be back.

I love going to the catwalk. The history, the view, the creek, and now a paved parking lot, handicapped access, newer catwalk, and a bathroom. Such a country! I used to go there quite often as a child and young adult. Unfortunately, quite a few years ago a very large flood had devastated much of the trail. Since that time... More

This is a must see place in a quiet corner of New Mexico. We toured this canyon while staying at D&D B&B just down the road from here. When you hike up the catwalk take your time and take water with you.

One of my new favorite places! We have been to a lot of National Parks and Monuments, but the Catwalk National Recreation Trail at Whitewater Picnic Area is something special. The trail follows Whitewater Creek into a narrow, scenic canyon and then traverses a metal grid walkway right above the creek. The infrastructure for the trail was originally built to... More

We walked to view the trail and it was just what we had read about. The metal walkway interspersed along the large cliff walls is an easy walk with a lovely stream below. Unfortunately there has been some recent flooding that destroyed the trail about 1/2 a mile up so you could only go so far but it was worth... More
