The Zuhl Museum has a fantastic collection of petrified wood, just jaw-dropping beautiful. The fossils and minerals were also really beautiful. This is a small museum on the NMSU campus but well worth seeking out and strolling through.

This looks like a tiny place and a quick stop but when you get inside you are just so surprised at how wonderful it is. We spent several hours just enjoying all of the beautiful pieces they have.

A great museum in Las Cruces. The numerous examples of petrified wood were stunning. Everything in the museum - fossils, minerals- was interesting. Definitely worth your time if you have about an hour and wonder what to do. We woukd go back.

There are so many different rocks and fossils and every single one is absolutely beautiful, I had never seen anything like that before. Wish I had discovered this when younger I think I would have gone out exploring for these when much younger.

If you only have time for one "thing to do" in LC, go to the Zuhl. It's on the edge of the university campus. We were in LC for two months and finally got there during our last week. So, so glad we got there...More
