Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The lake is beautiful. The nicest one that I've been to in new mexico. The aqua lodge is nice and convenient. The one that we stayed in was older. Smelled like cigarettes and the front porch door was broken. The pull out couch bed was very uncomfortable. You could feel the springs. Bring an air mattress to put on top of it. The marina is lacking trash cans. The cans are always over filled. In the women's bathroom one of the sinks has been broken forever. Bring your own toilet paper. They seem to be out quite often.Theres only one area to sit with grills and a fire pit. There's always someone using it and hard to get your turn. Overall it was a great weekend.

We rented a houseboat from the marina 10 of us and I can’t say enough great things about Jarrett and his crew!! These people know how to do customer service! Everyone was friendly helpful and efficient. The houseboat was in great shape, clean and well stacked.
Thank you for a great family trip.

We stayed at the Aqua Lodges. Great idea but needs work. $350.00 per night and not worth the money. Maintenance is sub par and service is minimal. Otherwise a very nice location. Couldn’t be a better place to relax and spend time. Too bad the facilities aren’t up to par.

The lake was very nice but the boats we rented from the Marina were truly horrible. We rented their large party barge and a ski boat for our family group for two days costing over $2,000. On first day the ski boat we received did not have a bimini, which is critical in our NM strong sun, but what was worse was the shards of glass all over the boat and leftover food and beverage spills as well as marijuana stubs. Staff attempted to clean it up once we pointed out the mess but that boat should have never been put into service. The large party barge was also filthy and the two water slides were non functional. Staff tried to fix the slides but were unsuccessful as they did not have replacement pumps. On the second day they gave us a different ski boat. This one was also filthy and dangerous as there was no chair for the driver, only a milk crate with cushions in it. The milk crate was not stable and could easily turn over while operating the boat. As we did not want to disappoint our grandchildren who had come in from California and Denmark for this family get together we were forced to use the boat (there were no other ski boats). What made it worse was the fact that the engine cut out frequently and could not pull a skier. The party barge was not clean but otherwise ok ( we downsized from the first one). Staff was friendly and willing but training for these young folks seemed to be woefully inadequate. No “management” that we were aware of ever tried to assist. While the staff said they were really struggling in dealing with renters trashing their boats, it did not appear that management was interested in repair or cleaning. I would have canceled the entire event except for the distance everyone had come to enjoy the lake. Final point, in the rental contract it states the renter is responsible for any and all damage. So these damaged boats should have been repaired by damage fees paid by the people who trashed them and that obviously was not done. Unless major changes by management are made, I cannot recommend doing business with them.

When you call and cancel your reservations, this place will (forget) to mark it down and then charge you still, even though you canceled it four months prior to your reservations and then blame you because you didn't get an email confirmation that you didn't cancel when it's their employees job to send you that email and mark it down that you canceled. This establishment fails to do their job and then takes it out on their customers. This leaves a very bad representation of this Buisness and it is unacceptable!!!

Recently had a disappointing experience here. I attempted to give the facility a chance to make this right before I put this up with no response. My family and my brothers family have made this a annual event for mine and my sister-in-law’s birthdays. This has been our fourth year renting a boat from the marina. This year it did not turn out good. We rented a party barge for the full day on July 14th. We went out and were having a good time until someone in our party needed to use the bathroom. When they did the toilet was clogged, it was also discovered that there was feces on the floor and there was urine in the toilet brush. Additionally, only one of the slides worked. We had water guns and attempted to clean it to salvage the day. At this time what appeared to be another piece of feces was discovered. When this happened, it changed our attitudes from "we can salvage this" to let’s just turn the boat in. We did and spoke with Terry, he was not rude but did have a, well this isn't our fault attitude. After all the conversation he stated he would charge my card for a half day and give us $240 refund on that. I did not see the return in my account, so I called on 7/19/24. I spoke with staff in the boat rental area who informed me that due to using different cards to book and pay was the reason. We straightened that out and I did receive the refund. But it was only $221.84. This is not even the difference between a full day and a half day. I initially paid $722.08 and a half day according to your website is $395. Based on conversations with Terry that day I was expecting around $500 returned. This has been a very poor situation. My family saves up for this trip that we have made an annual tradition over the past few years. I am hoping that we can get this resolved as we have not had any issues in the past and we would like to continue. I have not yet received a call back.

The Marina is so well maintained, and the staff were very friendly. Just wish they had Jet Ski’s for rent but regardless its a beautiful marina and lake.

We always say it's like a visit to Dubai. The restaurant is great, the store has nice and unique items as well as the things you need when camping on the lake. The kids and dogs especially love the interactive fountain.

We love the water, but we don't own any water toys causer we live in the desert. Problem solved! This Marina has lots of choices. We rented a pontoon for half a day & the staff was very helpful getting us set up. Hint: Book this online well in advance! I waited until a week before our trip and there was only one left. The boat was in good shape and we had a delightful time cruising up the river. We also rented a paddle board and kayak and had great fun sharing those within our group. The Cafe serves up standard New Mexican fare; you order and pay at the counter and they bring the food out to you. Our waitress was very friendly. Outdoor seating (with shaded tables) available.

Any advice on the houseboat rental?
Written 3 June 2019
Any advice on renting the houseboats from Navajo Marina? They're quite expensive and we'd be making a long trip to get there, so I'd like to avoid any gotchas before making the committment.
Rental process? Hidden fees? The houseboat itself? Picking up and turning in process? Camping on the beach? Since they won't let you tow a boat or other watercraft, is it worthwhile just to rent the houseboat? Etc, etc.
