Beautiful lake on your way to the top of Wheeler Peak. Beautiful and you can fish in it or you could a few year ago. Nice plce to take a rest on your hike to Wheeler or coming back down

Horseshoe lake is a beautiful lake above the tree line in the Sangre de Christo Mountains of northern New Mexico. It is a difficult hike to get there, but it is worth it. This lake is slightly within the national wilderness (no vehicles allowed); so you will need to plan on hiking the entire way or parking your ATV and... More

The last time I was there, the "trail" was very rocky and rough. I don't feel like this trail is for beginners. I recommend an ATV.
