This is only for an expert swimmer. As soon as I crossed the threshold where the ‘bottom falls out’ (in other words it plunges 800 feet straight down), an overwhelming sense of dread came over me; just had to plow ahead, focus on my breathing and talk to myself to make it all the way across. I did this in... More

My wife and I took a winter trip in our motor home, hoping to avoid some winter weather at our home in Colorado. On our second night out we stayed at Bottomless Lake State Park campground. New Mexico has a good set of State Parks that have camping for RVs. These sites are, in our opinion, well situated and cost... More

Loved visiting Bottomless Lakes. This place is worth your time! You will love it. We enjoyed the birds and fox we saw too.

The roads were bumpy in and out, but the park was great for kids. Big play ground, great free wifi. The visitors center had great info on the park, and the rangers were very friendly. Sunsets and night sky were amazing. The biggest complaint we have is all the dog poo all over the place.

I used to swim & fish here as a child; this is where I first heard Elvis sing (on a jukebox.) I doubt that a jukebox is still here but it is a great place to visit because of its history.

This was a point in our road trip that we didn't guarantee camping. We were just passing through NM on a Sunday and needed a place to park our truck to sleep out of at night. I was going to reserve a camping spot online for $18 (after fees and such) but decided to just get there and find out.... More

Nice Quiet Lake i wish we had parked here for the day we toured Roswell. We picniced in the shelter and the boys swam in the big lake. I think it would be fun to jump off the cliffs into some of the smaller ponds..We will stay here our next trip through Roswell

Visited in the summer with some friends, totally unexpected! Found a nice secluded camping spot with toilets and bins! Then came across the massive lake where we hired a pedalo and paddle board! So much fun and very friendly staff :) beautiful place, wish we could have stayed for more than one night!

While in Roswell decided to check out Bottomless "Lake". More like a pond with only 2 sides accessible. There was a area roped off for swimming which didn't make sense since it wasn't big enough for anything over a canoe. There were rv sites which might be fun for a weekend but boring beyond that. The lake is about 30... More

We are working nearby at the NWR and decided to visit the state park in order to be better informed when we were visited by tourists at the refuge. We were so excited to see such a well run park with amenities such as camping and a swimming beach. Their visitor center is informative. The park in general is clean,... More
